After the Battle of New York, Loki finds themself locked up in the avengers tower. After multiple escape attempts, they come to peace with the fact they’ll never get out. They just hope that the Avengers will kill them before The Mad Titan learns of their failure in getting the tesseract. But maybe being with the Avengers won’t be so bad.

Loki spends time with the Avengers and they accidentally get adopted by them when they learn what they have been through

Loki finally trauma dumps, and the Avengers become protective parents.

A moment of awkward silence passes between them before a curious tone slices through it: “So what do you say?” Thor asks.
“I say…I want shawarma.” Stark puts his hands out like he’s just solved world hunger.
“Well said,” Clint agrees. “I am huuuungryyyyy,” he stretches out. Natasha can tell that he just wants to get an excuse to be as far away as possible from this city. He has a family to support unlike the rest of them.
“Well what do we do with Loki?” Steve poses.
“I’ll call Fury about that.”

“I guess if you’re gonna keep giving me those puppy-eyes,” Tony finally says. “But seriously can we get shawarma now? I’ve free- fallen out of a portal in the middle of the city and I’m starving.”

AU Avengers (2012)
When Thor threw Loki headfirst into that cliff, he had no idea he would break the mind control of the sceptre and Thanos' minions.
This changes everything.
With Loki not wanting the invasion, they can find the Tesseract and stop the portal quicker than in the film. How will this change things in the immediate future?
And with the information Loki can provide, there is no one to tell Tony he is paranoid when the possibility of a second invasion comes up. With S.H.I.E.L.D. ignored and the UN approached, there is little Fury can do to gain control of the situation.One-shot (for now... yeah, I know I say that a lot!)

What if during 'The Avengers' Phil Coulson had picked up a different weapon before going to confront Loki-- and thereby totally changed the course of the rest of the movie?
NOTE: Contains references to past torture, rape of a minor, and abusive parenting. Also involves de-aging-- sorta. Unbeta'd, posted as an experiment. Constructive criticism welcomed.
Also, I am going with the MCU-canon suggested age ratio of 50 Aesir years to 1 human year, because it's simple and it makes sense. Though I am adding the proviso that Aesir babies develop at the same rate as humans for the first four years before slowing down.
