Summary
Neil Josten has run out of money two weeks ago, crashing on park benches in Ithaca with a bad flu taking its toll on his starved body. On his everyday tour through the streets of Ithaca he always passes the "Sweet Dreams" bakery, where he can't take his eyes of colorful pastries, cookies and cakes - and a beautiful blond standing behind the counter. But Neil doesn't swing and he's got way too much to lose if he stays in Ithaca for too long. With Nathan Wesninski's men and the FBI on his tail, he has to move on as quickly as possible. But when Neil faints in front of the bakery one day, the tables start to turn.
Andrew Minyard expects nothing from life. He's there until he's gone, living from morning to morning, cigarette to cigarette. Even his recent rehab stay couldn't help against the emptiness in his chest and the pain of a past that would be enough for five lives. “Hellooo? I said Houston, do you copy?”
Caitlyn fiddled with her headset, having finally found the green button on the side and hastily letting out a rather breathless reply. “Um, yes. Hello? This is Houston. I copy.”
There was a long pause in which Caitlyn sat twiddling her thumbs, anxiety pushing the frantic pulse of her heartbeat through her eardrums. Was that wrong? Did she already fuck up? She took a steady deep breath, finger hovering over the talk button until the familiar voice of the astronaut came through her headset once more.
“Damn, Houston. I didn’t expect you to sound so sexy.”

Caitlyn has been assigned as the personal capcom to one of the astronauts currently on a year long expedition at the international space station. Cue long months of pining and desperate longing.

“Fuck off,” the woman smirks, gesturing a middle finger at the two boxers when they both snicker over Ekko’s comment. She glances over in the general direction of where Caitlyn’s standing, the scar on her upper lip twitching upwards into a curious smile, scrunching a small tattoo under her left eye.
Caitlyn swears they only look at each other for a moment, but it feels electric.

Vi grins sharply, a dangerous glint in her eyes as she absentmindedly taps away at a rhythm on the shared kitchen’s dining table, her enjoyment of Caitlyn’s frustration as clear as day.
Caitlyn thinks she needs more sleep, or someone to shake her, because she unfortunately thinks this back and forth is… doing it for her. So she ignores the way her cheeks flush, her stomach tight and her jaw tense, as she grabs her leftovers and leaves the kitchen.
(She has unfortunately already indeed thought about banging this drummer.)

All it takes is 5 letters to turn Vi’s world upside down.
“Leona? Who’s Leona?” she mumbles, daring to glance up at Caitlyn, the latter in the process of trying to fish her phone back from where Vi’s holding it at a full arm’s length away. Vi doesn’t budge, bracketing her into the corner of her kitchen counter with a shoulder.
“C’mon Vi, does it matter?” she replies, finally getting her words together, her eyes going round in an attempt to look more vulnerable when she realises Vi isn’t letting her go anywhere. It doesn’t work.
“I had a nice time last night, let’s do it again sometime… I think we woke my neighbours up?” Vi reads, ignoring the way her voice goes shrill at the end, her heart pounding as she swallows back a lump in her throat.
“God, this is so embarrassing, give me my phone back-”
“You’re into girls?”

Summary
Vi looks at the big clock on the far wall. 7:46AM. She’s one minute late today. Every morning for the past six months - well, every morning Vi’s been on shift, so she’s just assuming about the other days - she’s passed by at exactly 7:45AM, always at a brisk walk, always in a perfectly-tailored suit, not a single long, silky-looking hair out of place.
7:47AM. The crisp clack of heeled boots on concrete pulls Vi out of her musings. There must have been some sort of emergency, because the subject of Vi’s (minor) obsession walks past the fire station at a faster clip than normal. Which is sort of saying something, because Mystery Woman’s got legs for days, long and slender, visibly toned with long, lean muscle through her suit pants. At the faster clip, Vi has less time to admire her ass and tiny, tiny waist as she walks by, but that’s fine, because the view as she leaves is fantastic.

Neil fiddled with the zipper of his jacket, sliding the tab up and down the chain, “I’ll go wherever Andrew’s going.” He hadn’t meant for it to sound so sentimental but Dan’s soft awe caught him off guard. He looked over at Allison who was rolling her eyes, now reclined on the other side of the bed. His fingers tripped over the zipper and he realized with a start that his face had begun to flush.
“I won't tell Nicky you said that if you let me paint your nails.” Allison offered snarkily, smirking at him again.
Dan scoffed and started out of the room, “I’m gonna heat up dinner, are you staying Neil?” She looked back briefly for his response. He nodded before turning back to Allison, “I don’t care what you tell Nicky.” He told her, and it was only half a lie.
