Tommy didn’t understand.
At least, on the streets, things were predictable. He knew that people would attack him so he knew how to respond. But Wilbur just stayed there, completely silent. He willingly gave Tommy food. No one had done that before. He didn’t try to hurt Tommy. Tommy didn’t get why he wouldn’t just get it over with – he had a dragon in his clutches. That was something most people would kill for.
Finally, after hours of ringing silence, Wilbur rose to his feet, his knees clicking loudly.
“You can stay under the bed for as long as you want. But just know that I won’t ever hurt you if you decide to come out. You’ll always be safe here.”
Liar, Tommy thought. But something in his mind was doubtful.

Tommy's heart is trying to pound out of his chest. He can't win this. He knows that. But he can't just give up. This isn't like that first meeting. The Blood God is aware and conscious, not lost in the drive of his instincts. The Blood God would probably enjoy taunting Tommy if he curled up and showed his fear so blatantly.
No, Tommy isn't going to take this lying down. He will not go gentle into that good night. His eyes narrow. He sees The Blood God tense.
"Come and get me, motherfucker." Tommy snarls and lobs the lamp right at the hybrid's stupid face.

Summary
Tommy ran. He ran as fast as his frustratingly small legs could push. The muscles burned, as did his lungs but he pushed onward. He could hear the dogs barking, right behind him and crashing through the underbrush as loudly and carelessly as he was.
He could feel their breath on his heels already. Waiting for the moment to snap at him, to tear through his Achilles tendon, to bring him down and take him back-Tommy couldn’t do that. He’d rather throw himself off a cliff than be taken back to that awful place. His soft feathered downy wings fluttered, but the new feathers were too fine to catch the wind and carry him away. He sobbed in frustration. Hot tears wet pouring down his face, but despite the way they were blurring his vision, Tommy pressed on.
He kept going.

The Train got closer and closer to his hand, he can hardly hear the pounding thumbs of someone chasing after him, yelling for him to come back, but he ignored it, continued running and trying to reach out and grabbing the railing of the back of the train, his hand dirty, dirt under his nails, blood around his cuticles from where he normal would bite, scars showing as the wind blows back his long sleeve a bit
orrrr: tommy is running away from Dream and sees a train and thinks its a good idea to get on. little did he know the family he was stolen from is on that train.
