Summary
In this volume we will be exploring the works of John Doe (unknown - 1997) and presenting a detailed overview of his personal and professional history. Doe scholarship is particularly important at this time due to newly discovered letters, photographs, and poetry that were released by his estate in 2025. The documents have put Doe’s life and work back into the public consciousness, and the knowledge gained from these texts has ignited discourse on how this new information influences the analysis of his work. The essays within offer new perspectives on Doe’s old and new texts, and seek to find new meaning within Doe canon.

The Poetry Archive is a non-profit organization dedicated to archiving and expanding works of notable poets in history. Thanks to a sizable donation by Ivy Dowd the archive is proud to present our newest section on 20th century poet John Doe. Works include selected poems, new works, previously unseen interviews, photographs, and letters.
Any profits from physical editions will be donated the The Lester and Doe Foundation for the Arts.

Frowning, Arthur presses his nail against the seam in the middle of the cylinder and it clicks open, one half of it separating like a shell.
Only when he’s gently turning the bottom half, turning it horizontally while keeping the top section in place, does he realise that it’s lipstick. Or- some kind of makeup, at least.
He has no idea why it's in his office.

“Not on your life.” The words tumble out before he can stop them. Parker lays a hand on Arthur’s bony shoulder, lightly at first, then squeezing more firmly when Arthur does not pull away. “Maybe I like having you around, English.”
Arthur is silent, not meeting Parker’s gaze. He swirls a hand around in the water, eyes fixed on the ripples. The bathroom light flickers, but Arthur doesn’t seem to notice.
“I like talking to you,” Parker continues. “I like when we’re talking about a case and something goes electric in your eyes, like you’re coming alive. I like when you drop random bits of information into the conversation like it’s the most natural thing ever. I like walking into Jack’s and seeing you in your usual spot.” Parker strokes a thumb over Arthur’s collarbone. “You lose people in this line of work, Art. I don’t want to lose you.”
