    LL: It’s a novel idea. I’ve never been one to shy away from a challenge. But I think it’s a simplification of a complex problem. Just because I have the resources, both financial and intellectual, to challenge our beloved Man of Steel doesn’t make this a game. Not to me, at least. To him maybe, but he’s not like us, is he Clark?

    Even after, it’ll never truly go away. Lex wanted his friendship, and for a year, he had it, Clark got to know him, and no matter what he’ll never un-know the things he learned. The things they did. To this day, there’s a tree in Smallville with their initials carved into it (the crown halfway split in a lighting strike, but somehow the tree still stands).

This has been sitting in my drafts folder for a long time, and after reading it over a few times, I haven't found any sufficiently satisfactory conclusion to it, in part because the central question appears to me to be unsolvable. Apologies for any misrepresentation of effective altruism, Superman canon, basic science, or economics.
