On June 7, 2017, the New York Admirals broke a 28-year drought to become the new MLH champions. During the on-ice celebrations, Captain Scott Hunter, long known as one of New York's most eligible bachelors, invited an unknown man down from the stands. What happened next made history: on center ice, in front of a sold-out crowd and countless cameras, Hunter kissed the man, now identified as Hunter’s partner Kip Grady, and became the first out active player in the MLH.
Two weeks later, Hunter agreed to sit down with OUT’s Jessica Liu for an interview. The following has been lightly edited for clarity.
