    "How convenient." Hiccup eases back a fraction, just enough to spare his shoulders the worst of the strain, chains slackening with a muted clink. His wrists are livid, skin split and inflamed where iron has chafed it raw, but even now he treats it as an afterthought, as beneath his notion, like he is proving something by disregarding his own afflictions. "You have me chained like an animal," he says, voice razor-edged, "but it's your safety you're worried about?"

    Viggo's expression flickers, shifts into something keen and quietly delighted. "A reasonable concern, given your reputation."

    Viggo has finally managed to capture the elusive Dragon Master, Hiccup Haddock, keeping him locked away in his dungeons. He decides to pay the boy a visit and see for himself why he has such a fearsome reputation.

    He is not disappointed.

    When Hiccup is chosen to kill a dragon as the end test in front of his village, he runs away. He ensures the dragons in the Arena are free to escape as well. He takes to the islands on the edge of trade lanes in case he needs to trade with people to survive. It is far from where Berk Vikings or Hunters go to hunt dragons. Hiccup uses the peace to learn to survive on his own as well as learning Dragonese from Toothless. There they make a home for themselves and they help dragons heal from injuries. Beyond a handful of trades with trusted traders, Hiccup has almost no human contact. Until someone washes up on the beach shore badly injured and he brings them back to his hut.

    Viggo shoots a Night Fury that was passing over their island down with a bola. The creature had been raiding their camps and ships for months. To be able to shoot it down was a big win for the Hunters. The next day Viggo goes over to the woods to find the dragon but only finds the destroyed bola that was clearly cut with a knife and torn pieces of leather. It didnt make any sense. Someone had cut the dragon free? Why?

    That night Viggo sees a young man that isn't part of his tribe sneak into the forge taking some leather and when he confronts him the young man growls and roars and the young man escapes. Viggo is intrigued and wants to find him or catch him the next time he is in the forge.

    The Gods unsatisfied with how things ended for Toothless and Hiccup decide to send them back with all of their memories. Hiccup who'd become jaded from the loss of his best friend, doesn't know what to make of being returned to the past. He does know that he won't make the same mistakes from before. Can someone get through to the jaded Hiccup as he hides on an island far from other humans? Hiccup and Toothless wake up the day after he cut Toothless free of the bola that injured Toothless's tail.

    They runaway from Berk and set up Dragon's Edge as a Dragon Sanctuary. With his memories of the past he is able to better prepare for the fight against the Red Death and rescue dragons. Little does he know that he's drawn the attention of someone from his past earlier.
