He felt Eddie shake his head against him. “Not without you.” His voice was thick through his clogged nose.
Steve was quiet for a moment, apart from the wheezing of him trying to breathe. “Wanted to make you soup,” he murmured eventually. “But I’m so fucking tired, and now it’s gone everywhere and I gotta clean it up and I just want to go to bed.” Steve was almost whining now, and he squeezed the edge of the bench in embarrassment.

“Mr. Eddie?” Tabbi squeaked as tears continued to fall from her eyes.
“Hey there Tabbi Cat.” Eddie peered over the car door to come face to face with Tabbi. “Having a hard day, sweetheart?”
The little girl nodded with a frown. “I wanna go with daddy.”
“Ah, I see. Well, Tabbi Cat, I actually need your help today.” Eddie spoke softly. “See, Mr. Gareth brought in a whole drum kit today and we really need someone who knows how to hit a drum really good. Think you might be able to show the other kiddos how it’s done?”
Tabbi sniffled a few times, thinking about what was being asked of her before eventually nodding. “I can help.”

Steve tilts his head to the side as he thinks. Maybe not very often, but his freshman year when Davey Riggs had been swim team captain? Yeah, he had definitely imagined some stuff that had made trips to the locker room kinda awkward.
“Yeah, that's true,” Steve answers, nodding. “I wonder why everybody acts like it's so gross, though.”

“He needed to let loose,” Eddie shrugged, looking down at the drink he’d barely taken a sip from.
Robin looked at him, frowned, then looked back to Steve. She desperately needed them to get their shit together, but Steve acting like this definitely wasn’t going to work. It didn’t help that Eddie had been acting moody all day, barely even wanted to come with them.
“And what about you?” She finally asked him. “Are you gonna let loose tonight or keep the stick up your ass until you go to bed?”

“We’re making a fort.”
Steve is barely even halfway through the door when he is accosted with the declaration. His slick raincoat is still zipped up, his wet umbrella still wide open and dripping onto the porch behind him.
“What?” He asks, fumbling to close the umbrella and shake it out before a stack of blankets are being shoved into his arms.
“We are making a fort,” Eddie repeats, grinning at Steve. He’s got his own heap of blankets bundled against his chest, and when Steve glances past his shoulder he can see that the bones of said fort are already mostly established — Wayne’s armchair has already been moved from its cozy corner of the room to now sit directly across from the couch, and the coffee table has been pushed to the side so as to not be a nuisance to the building process.
And, well, it sounds like a lot of fun, actually.
“Yeah, sure, alright,” Steve replies with a huff of a laugh.

And Steve really could just die now. He looked up into pretty, chocolate brown eyes, framed by thick dark lashes. The stranger had his hair pulled up into a bun, with curling strands framing the sides of his face. Bangs. This guy had bangs, and he still made it work. God, this was Tammy Thompson all over again. He was about to puke on the hottest guy he’d ever laid eyes on. He was so grounding everyone from his pool for at least a month.
