Through the porthole, the seed of a plain weed, a dying dandelion, flew up through the clouds, twirling and twining here and there, around the skeletal structures of buildings and the twisting and winding paths of torturous cliffs and forests, only to gently land inside a small nook of a simple tree. A simple, cursed tree where no one would cross paths with it for many years to come, and where it would stay dormant until it felt a new spark of magic, of joy, to truly bring it to life.
This is the story of that seed.

“But look, here, at this wardrobe,” Harry says. Audrey’s closet doors are open as he rifles through it. “Does this princess own anythin’ other than pink and skirts?” He idly flicks through the light pink hangers. “Any form of pant leg will do,” he murmurs, before appearing to linger on a particularly bright pink tutu. He makes a show of feeling the mesh netting between his fingers.
Mal scoffs. “Unlikely.”
Uma rolls her eyes and gets up off of the bed, shutting the princess’ diary she’d been reading, and walks over to the pirate. “Focus, Harry,” she tells him, almost closing the doors of the closet on his hands and face. “We’re here to find clues.” She gives him one last stern look before walking out into the hall, followed quickly by Gil and the others.
And that was where things really went wrong, as none of them thought to check whether or not her first mate followed them out.

Strong hands catch him as he stumbles. “Harry?” someone says. They sound familiar, so he knows somewhere in the back of his mind that it must be a crew member from the Lost Revenge.
Other voices follow, but he has little ability to focus on that when it feels like his ears are about to explode–- burning like they’re on fire. The warm hands of his crew mate leave him and it feels like the ground is moving up to meet him as he loses his balance completely.
Then, just as suddenly as it starts, it ends. His ears no longer feel like they’re on fire, the world realigns, steady once again, and Harry shakes his head a bit as he comes back to himself– on the ground.
Elongated points to his ears meet his wandering fingers. He questions it for only a few seconds before it dawns on him that this was what his father was afraid of, what he had been carefully hiding for all these years.

Harry’s not sure why he was invited to this annual council meeting of the United States of Auradon. Harry supposes it’s supposed to be a big deal, even bigger this year as it's the first one since the barrier around the Isle of the Lost was dropped.
That still doesn’t explain, however, why he was specifically asked, by name, to attend the thing. Sure, it’s the first one that both the Isle of the Lost and Auradon have both attended, but Uma’s the captain and she’s got it covered. It’s all very special, and very boring, and his presence seems very unnecessary - until the pixies show up, that is.

The stakes aren’t all that high for Harry Hook.
Everyone could remain asleep or turned to stone, and as long as Sleeping Beauty’s daughter didn’t try to off him, Gil or Uma, then they were ‘peachy’, as the Auradon expression went. The three of them could just stop this silly heroic charade at any time and simply leave everyone to their fate. Be done with it and find another way to bring down the barrier without her royal dragoness’s help.
Of course, then the stakes shifted drastically upon entering the living room of the small castle.
There on the couch, wearing their father’s signature red hats and all dressed in variations of blue, were the Smee twins.
The others’ conversation seemed to fade out of Harry’s awareness.
“Me Smees…”
