“Wait,” Steve grabs Eddie's hand before he flies away. “Stay?” His eyes are worn and a hint of fear shimmers underneath.
“This is really scary,” he admits. “I don’t know what’s going on and I don’t know when I’ll suddenly disappear. Maybe I’ll just disappear for good? It’d be nice if there was someone familiar around. Plus,” Steve adds with a weary grin, “you were probably busy before I intruded.”
In 1984, Eddie finds himself in front of a rugged version of the preppy jock he’s only peripherally aware of at school. Compelled by Steve's tale of time travel, Eddie invites him to hide in his trailer until he can return to his proper place and time in 1986.

Amazing concept for what the Upside Down is.
*spoilers*
'Nancy meets Robin’s eyes and Eddie knows that they’re thinking this confirms their theory: the Upside Down had manifested the monsters for Henry just as it had created the doppelganger Hawkins for Will; both had separate purposes and were composed and expressed in ways that reflected that.'

'Mike knew this wasn’t real. They were talking about hypotheticals of hypotheticals, speculating about subtext involving fictional characters. But somehow, this felt like the most real conversation he’d had with Will—with anyone—in months.
Will was good at that. Sincerity. Making feelings real, making thoughts matter. Dustin, Lucas, and Max could only tolerate so much earnest emotion before they fell back into joking and teasing. El was perfectly capable of being serious. At the end of the day, she was a pretty serious person. But she didn’t have Will’s ability to articulate his emotions.'

'Even if Mike meant everything he said and he really did love Will, it still wasn’t the same. Will knew the truth after all— that he loved Mike more than Mike loved him. He had spent almost half his life in love with Mike, while Mike would get up and move on with some pretty girl in a few days or few weeks no problem. Their hearts would never break even. It would just be Will broken and bruised at the end of the day.'
