Eddie looks up at Richie and for a moment his mind stutters backward, all the way back. He looks at the man in front of him and sees a young boy with curly hair and ridiculous glasses and a smile so wide that he can’t help, could never help, but smile back. He looks at Richie and sees that boy, and for the first time since he’s been here he feels like maybe this is a kind of homecoming after all.
(Eddie returns to Derry and finds fear there, but he finds courage, too. And he freaks out about Richie Tozier the entire goddamn way.)

Richie didn’t blink from behind the lenses until Eddie took his hand back.
“I don’t know. My life is kind of a mess right now. They feel appropriate.”

Summary
Eddie, for obvious reasons, is a clementine. This is the one he’s thought most about—tiny, adorable, obviously. Kind of hard and annoying to open when you first give it a try, but easier each time you do it. Some people (some! people!) might think it’s gross and weird, but Richie likes the yellow-tinged fingers that come with the peeling. A fruit that leaves a mark. He also likes the stringy bits—again! Maybe a bit weird, maybe a bit gross, maybe a bit off-putting, and most definitely not everyone’s thing, but. A part of the whole that Richie has found himself terminally obsessed with. It’s fine, he just really likes clementines right now. He might even say that he loves them.
(In which Richie has a month long breakdown over fruit; fruit is just a dumb, thinly veiled metaphor for Eddie; and everyone else thinks they’re already a thing.)

“I’m sorry,” Katsuki says without preamble. Just like he rehearsed on the way over here. “I’ve been an asshole for most of our lives and you didn’t deserve that.”
“I, uhm –”
“You’re way too fucking sweet for your own good. You should have kicked me out instead of letting me in your room. You shouldn’t have –” kissed me, he doesn’t say. “Been nice to me after I was a jerk. I shouldn’t have been a jerk. I never even noticed how much I liked having you around until I left.”
“You liked having me around?” Deku asks, expression going soft. Katsuki rubs his sweaty hands on his jeans. Slowly, Deku scoots forward in his chair until their knees almost touch. “Is that why you started talking to me again, Kacchan? I wondered if maybe you were just bored but I thought – I’d hoped maybe you finally wanted to be friends.”
Katsuki’s chest clenches. “I did. I do.”
(Katsuki moves to Tokyo after middle school. Izuku, against all odds, ends up going with him.)
