Summary
Hobie had gotten used to the death threats long ago. It kind of came with the territory of publicly opposing President Osborn's fascist regime. It had long since become repetitive, most of them wanting to shoot him or whatever. They all said the same shit, and none of them ever did anything about it.
But there's that old saying: “You have to be lucky every time. We only have to be lucky once.” If you’d asked Hobie, he would say he didn’t believe in luck, it’s just preparation and opportunity. None of those keyboard warriors ever had the balls to actually plan an attack, let alone attempt it. But eventually, one of them was prepared to carry out the revolting plans he’d detailed on a white supremacist forum. And despite the Spider Army affinity group’s best efforts to protect their beloved Spider-Punk, along came an opportunity.
Imprisoned in a basement upstate, Hobie has lost all hope. He knows he's going to die here, not as a martyr for the revolution, but as a victim of his neo-Nazi captor's violent fantasies.
Not if Peter Benjamin "Noir" Parker has anything to say about it, though.

Summary
Hobie Brown has hated the police with a burning passion for nearly all his life. But when other spiders have asked about it, he’s always refused to elaborate on why beyond the standard “all cops are bastards, mate, dontcha know?”
Since so many spiders’ loved ones had worn that badge, those discussions often devolved into an argument about “good cops.” But Hobie called that a fictional idea cooked up by the copaganda-spewing media machine. If they were good people, they wouldn’t have signed up for a job that required violent enforcement of oppression. Hobie wouldn’t budge even one inch on that, not even for Jefferson Morales, George Stacy, or the various Ben Parkers.
Even across the multiverse, the statistic remained the same: forty percent of police officers are domestic abusers. Earth-138 activists all knew that any encounter with cops almost guaranteed police brutality. But unlike beatings and shootings in the name of “law and order,” some happen in private, with no witnesses to those especially dehumanizing abuses of power. Hobie had learned that the hard way as a child, thanks to an officer by the name of Steven Westcott.

Summary
Riri was drawing a mustache on, Robbie was dusting highlighter across his cheekbones, Karl was critically examining his wig installation through his phone’s front camera, Gwen was finishing up her rainbow eyeshadow with a bit of purple, and Hobie...was wishing he could do the same.
Because the last time he’d done drag...well, suffice it to say that he wouldn’t be doing it again any time soon, if he ever did. He’d locked that part of him away down deep inside, buried under months of pain, afraid to do anything more than wish that he could return to it one day. He’d see a pretty new shade of lipstick or eyeshadow on a shelf in some store and get maybe two seconds of wondering how it would look on him before the memories kicked in and he’d all but flee the makeup aisle.
It wasn’t worth it. Not anymore.
(But anything is possible when your chosen family loves and supports you.)

Summary
It seems like every New Yorker has a story to tell about the late Spider-Man helping them with something. Sometimes it’s as commonplace as him helping them find a lost cat. Other times, it’s something much more personal, like that one time Spider-Man saved a little boy from getting molested by his babysitter.

Summary
Sometimes, surviving the aftermath is harder than making it through the trauma itself. As the Spider-Band navigates bringing to birth a new world from the ashes of the old President Osborn’s fascist regime, the rubble from which Hobie must rebuild himself is much, much more personal. More shameful, he would have called it. More…intimate.

Summary
I think I owe Hobie an apology at this point, but the other two authors' fics are really just the gift that keeps on giving to my unhinged survivor-writer brain lmao.

Summary
"I don't need help, it's alright." Hobie eyes him, leaving a pause between them before sighing.
"I used to say that too you know?" Hobie muttered. Miles frowned staring at him.
"I don't think it's the same Hobie.." he retorted.
"Maybe not, I think it's gotta be at least similar though. You know, I see a lot of me in you." He hums. Miles frowns with confusion.
"In me?" he mutters.
"In you." Hobie reiterates.
