Summary
He’s truly a lost cause. Completely hopeless.
If he hadn’t been before, then nearly dying certainly would’ve done it.
Even the fugue version of himself had been enamored with her from the moment he opened his eyes and saw her hovering by his bedside. When he’d been standing inside his house in Malibu, when all the realization and rush of feelings had hit him at once, the first discernible thoughts he could muster were of her.

She steps onto the escalator before him and as it rises he puts his hands firmly on her waist.
“Jane, what are you doing?” she rolls her eyes at him. “We’re in public, this is no time to be getting handsy.”
“I wasn’t!” he defends, “I was just holding you steady.”
At that she snorts a little, “I’m a grown woman. I can handle an escalator.”
