His heart had stopped dead in his chest at the princess' quiet admission. He should have felt elated, but there was no joy in her hollow voice, and though she had been staring into his eyes, her gaze had been a thousand miles away.
"What's wrong with doing so in this one?" He had asked.
Shuri had looked at him, a sudden clarity and deep weariness in her dark eyes before turning to lay on her back, a hand draped across her abdomen and her gaze fixed on the ceiling.
"Leave," she said softly and so he had left, slipping quietly out of her bed and back into the waves from which he came.
Aj K’uk’ulkan, from birth to death and everything in between.
