It started, as so many things do, with a tweet.
“Hey, Hollzy! Look at this! It’s so you and Roz,” Evan Dykstra said, shoving his phone in Shane’s face. Shane squinted at the slightly blurry screen, willing his eyes to focus on the small font. He never brought his glasses to practice (much to Ilya’s chagrin), but he also never anticipated reading whatever stupid meme the Centaurs decided was vital for his desolate knowledge of pop culture.
Me and the bad bitch I pulled by being autistic, it read, followed by a photo pulled from Centaurs socials of Ilya and Shane smiling at each other like idiots at a team event.
Shane read it a second time, then looked up at Dykstra, who looked incredibly proud of himself. Clearly, Ilya was supposed to be the ‘bad bitch,’ because no one had ever put those two words in the same sentence as Shane Hollander.
“Funny, D,” Shane began, “but I’m not autistic.”

«What… Jesus Christ, Lewis,» he gasps, a hand over his mouth.
Lewis swallows compulsively, diverting his gaze.
«It seemed like the right thing to do, Nico. You had to see it. I had to kill it.»
I don't know what got into me, he’d want to whisper, as feeble as his excuse. Nico’s silver eyes burn holes into his soul.
«Get in.»
The house is as spotless as Lewis remembers. Catalogue-ready, stylish furniture, expensive air fresheners. He keeps his injured hand close to his chest, looking around as Nico rushes to fetch a soft towel, discarding Lewis’ makeshift compress in a bin and muttering curses under his breath.
Lewis clears his throat, his movements still a little too skittish, his uninjured hand trembling slightly.
«I thought… you weren't home,» he says, unable to regulate his own voice.
Nico shrugs, all labored breaths and pumping fists, and replies:
«Vivian and the girls aren’t. Lewis, what have you done?»Lewis can't stand seeing the rose tattooed on his hand anymore, so he takes drastic measures to get rid of it and, hopefully, to get rid of Nico for good.
