“Lan Zhan.”
“Hm?”
Because this—
“You know I love you, right?”
—was always how it was going to end.

It's been too long since they'd last had a family visit to Jiang Yanli's house.

"Everyone gets jian bing," Jiang Yanli says, moving smoothly in between Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying and giving them each a stern look. "This is an equal-opportunity breakfast establishment."
Jiang Cheng bends in to give Jiang Yanli a kiss on the cheek, his whole face going soft as she gives him a pat on the arm afterwards. "He started it," he informs his sister, his face the picture of innocence.
Wei Ying sucks in a breath, his whole posture radiating offense. "I so did not," he starts hotly, but another stern look from Yanli sends the both of them into silence.
Jiang Yanli makes eye contact with Lan Zhan as she moves to the stove, looking deeply amused more than anything else. Both Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng dive to get out the pan for her, arguing only a little as they do so, and Jiang Yanli just watches them, a contented smile on her lips as she waits, one hand resting on the curve of her belly.
Lan Zhan loves this family, who have taken him in as one of their own. He loves these weekends, no matter how over-stimulated his brain feels at the end of them. He moves to lean against the counter across the way, where Jin Zixuan is also leaning, staying well out of the way of the trio of siblings. Zixuan silently hands him a fresh cup of tea and they lean there in companionable silence, watching this family that has welcomed them both.

“That's a Wishing Shell. It’s what this planet is known for,” Dan Heng comments. “They say that if you listen to it, you'll hear the thing you desire most.”
“Is it true?”
He shrugs, and she makes a face at him. “This is the first time we've visited one of this planet's beaches. I've never tried it.”
“Guess there's no time like the present.” She holds it up to her ear, eyes shutting in concentration. In the distance he hears March call their names, glancing over to see her making her way back towards them with a large grin on her face, arms full of seashells. He turns his attention back to Stelle.
“What do you hear?” Dan Heng asks.
Stelle opens her eyes, glancing over his shoulder, pupils reflecting the silhouettes of Himeko and Welt, sitting around the campfire. Then her gaze settles back on him, and a smile curls the corners of her mouth.
“Nothing, really,” she answers. “Just you guys.”

Summary
“Ratio, you wretch.” Aventurine’s hiss was cut off with a wince of pain as Sunday pressed forward, gripping blond locks in one smooth motion.
“I’d watch your tongue, gambler.” Sunday’s voice had been venomous and alarming before, sure, but now it was downright dangerous. “Have you forgotten what I said about cutting it out?”
“He may be a Sigonian,” Ratio’s voice came from the side. “But he’s still a Stoneheart. I understand your feelings on this…matter, Mr. Sunday, but I’d advise caution.”
Or, an alternate take on the 2.1 Sunday/Aventurine confrontation where Sunday kidnaps Aventurine and Ratio (eventually) comes to the rescue.

“Stay,” Aventurine murmured, blinking his eyes open and looking up at the genius beside him. Part of him quietly preened at finally having Ratio right where he’d always wanted him, but the other demanded a safe place to lay his head to rest – and where was safer than Ratio’s arms?
“Very well,” Ratio agreed after a brief moment of hesitation.

Summary
“Your apple tart was nine Shields,” the cashier says to the Trailblazer, and holds out her hand expectantly. March fumbles around for a moment to remember her total before preparing her own payment in anticipation. That’s the issue with being part of the Nameless—too many different currencies to keep track of as they track their way through different galaxies! It’s only after the Trailblazer gives her a blank look that the cashier furrows her brow and elaborates, “9 Shields? For the tart? That was what you ordered, yes?”
“Shields are the currency here on Belobog!” she whispers furiously, elbowing them in the side. “Mr. Yang and Himeko gave us some before we left so you should definitely have some!”
“Ah—Yes, nine Shields,” they say, but March feels a sinking feeling in her stomach at the continued blankness in their expression. “That is definitely true.”
The Trailblazer's unique background has left them with some very interesting gaps in their common sense and knowledge. Everyone around them starts to notice this, but most are too polite to say anything about the person with a bat and the equivalent of an atomic bomb's worth of power stored inside them.
