Summary
Dahna Esk (née Garak), comes to Lakat to find out what happened to her little sister, and meets a very helpful young man at the Family Reunification Office.
--
“Dahna Esk of Ils’sanum,” Mr. Garak confirmed, turning to the tablet on his lap. His own cup of tea hung lazily from one hand. “Will I be searching for family members generally, or someone in particular.”
“My sister. Mila.”
His quiet was inviting, seemingly beckoning Dahna forward. It had never been safe or advisable to share secrets with the state – not on family matters – but it didn’t matter now.

Summary
The funeral was insufferably hot. Of course, it would be. Bashir wore all black, a mourning suit in the traditional Cardassian style that Garak had made for him years ago to attend his first state funeral as the Castellan’s spouse. He wondered if, in the back of his mind, Garak had known Bashir would someday wear it to this very occasion.
He was sweating entirely too much for such a somber event. The black fabric drew the heat of the suns, and he was beginning to feel lightheaded by the time they finally adjourned.
He sat on the steps of the funeral home, and Jeri brought him some cold water to drink and fanned him ineffectually with a floral arrangement. Smoke was rising from the crematorium.
He’s really gone.
***
In which Garak and Bashir never mended their relationship from the wartime wounds, rushed into a politically-motivated marriage, and broke each other’s hearts. Oh, and Garak fakes his own death. Don’t worry, the story does get happier.

Summary
The choices we make, or others make for us, change who we become. Or do they?
Julian Bashir was meant to be a doctor. But when his augment status nearly comes to light at Starfleet Academy, he pivots—quietly, strategically—into engineering, hiding among Starfleet's remote outposts. His latest assignment: a contested Class-P planet, where the days stretch to 27 hours and the company is limited to a handful of observers… including one Garak. Charming. Cryptic. Dangerous?
Cut off from the rest of the galaxy by atmospheric interference, Julian finds himself navigating more than the frigid planet surface. As he and Garak find themselves in close quarters—and closer conversations—the outpost begins to fail. Hidden agendas surface, and a fragile alliance may be the only thing standing between survival and ruin.
A ‘butterfly flaps its wings’ AU where Julian and Garak cross paths years before the events of DS9.
