Summary
The sun is warm, the ocean is beautiful. Leave is quiet and gentle and all the other antonyms of what real life means for them both.
Going back to base after all this is a testament to Soap's strength and willpower. In fact, the next time anyone wants to insinuate Soap doesn't do what he's told, he will refer them to the fact that he's literally ripping himself away from peace and paradise just to go back to sitting through debriefings and getting shot at.

“Lighter, Wise said you liked the noodles at Lumina Square. You should try the noodle shop just in front of ours before you head back! Maybe Wise can take you.”
“Are you secretly helping General Chop promote a new menu?” Wise asks, scrutinizing her awfully blinding grin through a frown. “And I just ate there yesterday with Ben, so I’m good.”
“Ben’s a good friend of ours,” Belle tells Lighter quickly. “He’s a bear.”
“Uh. Cool…?” says Lighter.
“Anyway, once you’re done with Lighter’s tapes why don’t you two go hang out together!” She gives Wise a look.
“I’m still watching the shop, though?”
The look hardens. “Yes, but business is slow today.”
In which Belle is convinced her brother and Lighter should get together, and rope the ladies of the Sons of Calydon into setting them up. Wise is convinced he isn't, in fact, dating the Champion, until suddenly he is.

"We don't want you to feel left out, so we want you to answer at least one truth or dare," Belle says. "So, which will it be?"
Wise gives her a look. "Can I pass?"
"Nope!" Burnice cries, punching her fist up into the air. "It's either truth or dare, Proxy, no other options!"
"Why me..?"
Belle dons the most pitiful puppy-dog look she's ever worn in front of him, hands clasped to her cheek in seeming supplication. "Because you're my brother and I love you, and I don't want you feeling left out..?"
Wise makes an attempt to escape his sister's whims while they hang out at Cheesetopia with the Sons of Calydon. Unfortunately, it's not that easy.

Summary
It's then that Wise gets his wires crossed, distracted as he is by petting Inky while running on low sleep due to his insomnia. Instead of saying "thank you" like a normal person would, when he takes the pouch from Lighter's hand, he ends up saying,
"Good boy."
Lighter freezes.
Wise blinks, eyeing the sudden pause.
Then he thinks.
And—
"Oh," he stammers, flustered. "I didn't mean—sorry, I got distracted petting Inky. I meant 'thank you', not…not that."
Wise and Lighter hang out after watching a film together in Wise's room. Shenanigans ensue.

Soap locks himself in his room. Goes further, into the small bathroom. He looks into the mirror. He pulls his fist back, breaking the mirror with a pained shout.
You're not worth anything. You just ruin everything you touch.
Or,
Soap takes extra care in helping some privates prepare for a test. Only one does well while others struggle. They get angry and stressed, telling Soap it's his fault they did bad. They say things that Soap has already thought of himself, breaking the mask he took so long to build.

Summary
Ghost finally understands why he's seen so many soldiers count down the days until leave. As he looks at Soap, looks at where they are, what they're doing, how far they've come—when he looks at all of it... he gets it.
Of course, the flip side of leave, means that there's far too much free time to think. This, for Ghost, is something he's dealt with over the years to little success. But when he's got Soap, the good far outweighs any of the bad. The bright days outshine the hard nights. And the things that haunt them, even half a world a way, fade into the background.

Simon still couldn’t bear to put the necklace on. It wasn’t a rational fear anymore – his dad was long gone – but each time he weighed the feeling of the pendant in his hand, he could hear his dad’s voice. If I catch you with that thing again, I’ll fucking destroy it.
Part of Ghost wanted to know who his soulmate was, and the other wanted to hide the necklace far, far away before his dad could find him with it. Yet Ghost kept staring, and he kept telling himself the pendant wasn’t warmer against his skin than it usually was. But it was warm, and it felt as if it was trying to burn a mark onto his skin. He gladly pressed it further into his palm just to see if it would do something, but all he accomplished was the stinging realisation that his soulmate was here, and it was Soap.or, everyone owns a necklace that displays your soulmate's emotions through colours and their proximity through temperature. Ghost never expected to meet his, and Soap thought his was long gone.

When taken hostage on their latest mission Ghost gets dosed with truth serum. Rescued before his captors are able to get anything from him, Ghost is free to go home with his team. He quickly finds out that being rescued also means being stuck with his team while still under the effects of the truth serum. There are a lot of things that he doesn’t particularly want his team to know about him. Maybe a few things that he doesn’t want his Sergeant to know about him and about the way he feels…
Or: Ghost is under the influence of a truth serum and is trying his best to not confess his love for Soap.
