Recently, without any particular inciting incident that he can think of, Charlie stopped having nightmares.
He tentatively allows himself to think it’s a sign of recovery, and like every other sign of recovery it is a disorienting, uncertain thing. Because Charlie does dream—frequently and vividly—and even if he isn’t waking up screaming, it’s become increasingly difficult to differentiate them from reality.

When Noel and Oscar make plans they always talk with a distant urgency, the presumed prefix of while we’re here, before we go, since we have the chance— there’s always only so much time until they can’t see a film together, or visit that nice bar Noel recommends, or drive out far enough to see the stars stretch out for miles and miles overhead.
So they ought to do that all now, right?

And, well. John’s body is physical, but it’s malleable enough that they can still make it work. It’s not going to be an elegant rejoining, per se—but anything’s worth it if they can be together again.

John's been returned to the Dreamlands, at the mercy of the King, who is intent on breaking him down into pieces that fit back neatly into the whole. Back on Earth, those they left behind have to decide just how far they're willing to go to for Arthur and his lost passenger. Very loosely a Hadestown AU.
