Summary
Tommy has been gone fighting fires for a month as vital air support, which would be fine—except for the fact that Buck has finally gotten a taste of sex with Tommy only for it to be cruelly whisked away. Buck finally gets his chance to join the firefighting efforts on the front lines and hopefully, someday before the world ends, ideally, he’ll get to see Tommy again.
There is a chance that Buck is being a little overdramatic about the whole thing, but a month is a really long time to go without the wonder of your brand new boyfriend.

Bucky wouldn't say he hated Christmas, but it also wasn't his favourite time of year, especially the thought of having to schmooze with people at the inaugural SHIELD Christmas party. A party he had now been tasked to organise - with Steve (stupid idiot) Rogers.
How in hell was he supposed to survive the holiday season having to assemble a damn Christmas function with his sworn work enemy?
He was just going to have to use his Barnes smarts and either get kicked off the two-man committee or push a certain blondes buttons until Rogers had no choice but to quit.
It shouldn't be hard to get out of it. It's not as if they liked each other after all...

Jim lays a hand on his own chest, though, is watched with green eyes as he says, “Jim.” And then he reaches out his hand to lay it on the netting between them, with an expectant look.
If he didn’t know better, he’d think the alien was arching an unimpressed brow at him. They do then reach for the net, though, and begin to untie the knots that hold it together. They go slowly, so Jim can find a handhold and foothold rather than falling out and onto the ground, many feet below.
And then they offer him one of those hands, as though to help him out and onto another neighbouring branch.
Jim takes it.
