Summary
The spell was shattered with brutal finality and Eridan was standing in the middle of his respiteblock, fully aware that this was a dream that never could be. He had an image to upload. He had responsibilities. She didn't fit anywhere in that and she never would. He wanted to scream, he wanted to forget her, and he wanted to do something terrible to everyone he had ever met just so that they too would feel this agony.
He hated this. Hated himself. Hated the world.

The game is over, and however many years it's been later the victors have found a way to bring those who didn't make it back to life. Eridan Ampora is among those few. The problem is, he's not sure he deserves to be there. It doesn't seem like anyone else is quite so sure, either.
This is a story about Eridan wrestling with gender, relationship issues, guilt, and his own deeply unpleasant personality. It's also about the beauty of discovering yourself, and about being stalked by evil mental illness demons.

Ah, yeah, the soulmates. True, everyone he’s ever met is waiting to meet theirs. He admits there’s a certain excitement about finding your soulmate, or at the very least, to have your memories brought back upon falling for someone. When he was younger, he was also excited about the possibility of meeting someone like that. A “soulmate.” He used to imagine what his mysterious past life was like every night, and sometimes he and his friends would discuss how they imagined theirs. It has been years since he did any of that, of course.
“I don’t exactly believe in soulmates.” He explains awkwardly, causing Fischl to look at him with a face he can’t quite decipher. “I have never met anyone who’s found theirs, so I started to lose hope.”
“Oh…” She sounds rather disappointed. He didn’t just ruin his first friendship, did he? “I guess… I guess it makes sense. But if you didn’t find them in Liyue, that means fate brought you to Mondstadt to find them! I’m sure. I, Fischl, was put in your path upon the call of fate to help you find your one and only soulmate. How cool is that?”
Or the story in which fate brings Xiao to the city of wind in a world where finding your soulmate gives you your past life's memories back...

This is the story of how the Conqueror of Demons ends up roaming on green pastures in bloom caressed by the breeze, walking down the streets of a carefree city of humans, and even becoming a sporadic member of the Adventurers' Guild and helping . But mostly, this is a story about healing and growth and trust and love. About how he now can dance amid the sea of flowers at the sound of the flute of his beloved, like in his old dreams.

To Xiao, Barbatos was the embodiment of everything he was not: happy, free, fully confident in who he was. His music made the shadows in Xiao’s head retreat. They were all about living life to the fullest, having hope when the world was turned against you, and having fun (something that was almost entirely foreign to Xiao).
And now he was going to have to give away all his albums, delete Barbatos’ songs off his phone, and never listen to his music again. Just looking at the albums lined up on the shelf made Xiao cringe. He’d thought that if he ever did get a chance to meet his idol, it would be in a controlled space. He would have said something normal, like, Your music means a lot to me. Then he would’ve shaken Barbatos’ hand, gotten an autograph, and lived out the rest of his life in peace.
Xiao’s idol had watched him punch a guy in the stomach.
Since Zhongli's early retirement, Xiao's life has been aimless. But a chance encounter sets him on a new and uncharted path.
