Summary
Detective Brian O’Conner was an oddity among UC operatives.
And for a simple, but also complex reason:
The best UCs were rootless.
They had no ties, no responsibilities or connections outside of their work to bog them down or trouble their minds during an operation.
The best UCs could let everything else go and sink into their roles for however long was required to take down their targets.
Of course, this also had a side-effect of risking the best UCs to going “native” or sinking so far into their roles that they turn from excellent officers of the law into the most frustrating criminals to catch as they end up creating the bonds that they lack outside of the job with the same targets they’re supposed to be spying on and gathering evidence to lock away.
Brian O’Conner was an oddity in that not only was he one of the best UCs in the Los Angeles Police Department’s stable of officers, but he also had not only ties to life outside his work but potentially the strongest ones around:

Summary
“A beer please,” Obi-Wan said, his voice barely rising above the din. He placed the credits on the bar, his fingers shaking slightly as he did so./
The bartender looked down at him with a frown, his brows furrowing as he took in Obi-Wan's thin frame. “How old are you, kid?”
Obi-Wan shifted uneasily, suddenly aware of the attention he was drawing from the patrons around him. “It’s not for me,” he replied quickly, his voice steady despite the tremor in his fingers. “I’m just fetching it for my Master.”
Master is a bit of a loaded word in the wider galaxy.

Summary
Buck had woken up at three thirty, needing to pee. He absolutely had all intentions to get back to bed and sleep until at least eight before heading over to Eddie's. Instead, his sleep-addled mind had decided to take a pregnancy test. One of the many he had bought when the doctors had cleared him, and they had been allowed to start trying.
So Buck had taken the test, washed his hands, and had fallen back into bed, just to jolt up a few minutes later. He had nearly brained himself in his haste to get back into the bathroom, staring at the positive pregnancy test in disbelief. It had been faint, but it was positive.
or
Buck and Eddie, and the planned pregnancy.
