“Yuna,” David says one morning. They’re in the express lane at T&T Supermarket. Yuna’s placing a stack of wonton wrappers onto the conveyor belt. Mirin. White Rabbit candy. The cashier scans the items with sleepy eyes. “Did you know about this?”
It takes a second for it to register, between the shock and the— shock. There’s Shane on the front cover of Hot Take, happily grinning away in glossy print. The flash of the camera renders him a static, glowing image, but that’s definitely Shane. Hand-in-hand with none other than—
“Is that Rose fucking Landry?”

They’d won their happy ending, fair and square, and nothing can take the joy out of that.
Not even the tedium of unpacking the dozens of boxes that had been shipped over from Shane’s house in Montreal.
Or so Shane thought.
The joy is still there. But it also turns out that happy endings might be a little more complicated than Shane believed they were.
