Summary
Vader’s once deafening footsteps can barely be heard as he approaches, now that his boots fit better. He still stalks forward, with an assured grace to his every stride. Mom says he was a warrior, before. It’s easy to imagine him twirling a weapon effortlessly, though Mom forbids him from wielding one now.
“I have to go away now,” he says. His voice still sounds like a robot’s voice, but it’s not deep like before. Despite the flatness to it, it’s got a melancholy lilt. It sounds like heartbreak.
Vader kneels and lays a gloved hand on Luke’s face, then Leia’s. There’s a garbled sound, almost like sniffling. “I… do not know when I will return.”
“He’s only here to say goodbye, ” Mom chimes in. Her arms are crossed, her eyes weary, her mouth frowning like always. Luke knows his Mom is not terribly old, but he cannot imagine her ever looking young, either.

Freshly fitted with a new suit, Vader tries to make amends. As he works to rebuild cities, his family works to rebuild themselves.

Summary
“Anakin?” Padme says, and stands up. “My goodness, you’ve grown!”
“You recognize me?” Anakin says, taken aback.
“You haven’t changed that much,” She giggles. She looks Anakin over, and normally when people spend too long looking at her Anakin’s whole body tenses up and she has to fight the urge to punch them. People always stare at her like they’ve never seen anyone quite like her before, like she’s some kind of freak of nature. But not Padmé. She looks at Anakin inquisitively; her eyes sparkle with a thousand questions.
“You must just have a good memory for faces,” Anakin chuckles. She keeps looking over at the women Padmé was laughing with. Shouldn’t she be getting back to them?
“Or maybe you’re just hard to forget.” That smile again. “Come, come sit with us!”
That’s the last thing Anakin wants. The idea of sitting with a group of people, staring at the wall to avoid saying something stupid that would make them all look at her funny- sounds exhausting.
“I didn’t come here for them.” She says, more harshly than she means to.

Here with him, with her husband, Padmé was struck with a certain lightness she had never felt before. It made her want to do something bold, something daring— things Senator Amidala would never even dream of doing. And she wasn’t Senator Amidala right now. She was just Padmé— and Padmé wanted to be with Anakin, to feel and touch and know him in every way you could know a person. Turning back to him, Padmé did her best impression of a seductive look, tilting her chin down and glancing up at him through her lashes.
“Let’s go swimming,” she said, reaching up to slowly slide the strap of her dress down her shoulder.
On their honeymoon, Anakin and Padmé take advantage of how isolated the Naboo lake country truly is.
