Summary
He pictures the funeral sometimes.
He pictures someone he doesn’t know saying Viktor’s name wrong. He pictures screaming in public. He pictures stealing the ashes and keeping them in a protein powder container because it’s the only vessel big enough. He pictures lying in those ashes like a widow bird. He pictures baking the ashes into bread and feeding them to pigeons in the park.
He pictures swallowing them himself.
Or: When Viktor chooses a quiet death, Jayce learns how to love him to the edge of the end and carry what’s left through the sad art of letting go.

Summary
It felt empty, like a hand had reached in and scooped out a vital organ, sewed him back up so he was whole on the outside but missing something on the inside where no one could see but he could feel it. God, could he feel it.
The stitches come undone as Buck's fingers tighten around his, pointer finger stroking the delicate skin at the inside of his wrist, and whatever he was missing before, whatever was taken from him when he left Buck behind, is put lovingly back in its place.
(or Buck gets hurt after Eddie moves to Texas and Eddie has a lot of feelings to sort through)

Summary
Eddie pauses. “What’s wrong? Was the bakery closed already?”
Buck’s left thigh seizes. He laughs to disguise the whimper in his voice. He aches. He wants. He wants.
“No, nothing, man,” Buck huffs. The extra air makes his voice sound stronger than it is. He inhales deeply. “Nothing’s wrong. I have the bread, I’m on my way back, just…”
“Traffic?”
Sort of, Buck almost says.
-OR-
Buck is in a car accident. He knows he's going to die. He calls Eddie, just to hear his voice again.

Summary
Family Feels, Unexpected Parallels, and Grand Uncle Bucky.
In his youth, Steve Rogers had been all but adopted by the Barnes family. After waking up in the 21st century, Steve goes looking for the last Barnes descendent: Stiles Stilinski. 70 years and three generations later, the family tradition of taking in strays still runs strong. It's a brave new world of superheroes and supernaturals that Steve and Stiles are both discovering - and trying to survive.
These are the (mis)adventures of the Barnes/Rogers family, the Hale/McCall Pack, and whatever their enemies try to throw at them. Pack is more than blood or bite, a team is not just the people you save the world with, and family is beyond the dictates of DNA. They are the people who you'd go down in flames for, who will always be by your side, and who you've still got at the end of the line.
It turns out Steve and Stiles have more of that than they ever imagined.

Summary
Witches are now officially Stiles’ least favorite. They suck. He hates them and their stupid human sacrificial rituals, and their stupid evil knives.
Call him biased because one of said stupid knives is buried to the hilt in his chest, but Stiles doesn’t care. He’s bleeding out, lying in a bed of leaves and rocks, staring up at a canopy of trees and stars. Witches are the worst.

Summary
Buck’s doing fine.
Sure, his leg hurts, and every time he blinks he finds himself on Eddie’s couch, the realtor’s sizzling voice in the background, and it sends such a jolt across his spine that he has to hold onto the nearest wall. Sure, he hasn’t spoken to Christopher in what must have been months, his pillowcase still smells of Tommy, and hell, there are more than three dozens of oatmeal raisin cookies in his kitchen, and he fucking hates raisins. Then there is Maddie, pregnant again, walking towards the edge again, and the real cherry on top, now Eddie, asking him to bring some boxes on his way to help with packing and–
No. It's fine. Buck's doing just fine.

Summary
“Buck—”
Buck’s voice rose, teetering on the edge of desperation. “And now, you’re just gone? Chris mentions chess club, and it’s all, ‘oh, I guess I have to uproot my entire life and move back to El Paso’? I mean, what’s—”
“Careful,” Eddie warned, and Buck scoffed.
“I’m sorry, but seriously? That’s all it takes? What about the 118? What about—”
“You?”
Buck stopped short, breath halting as if Eddie had stuck a knife between his ribs.—
or, Post 8x08, Buck and Eddie deal poorly with their feelings, and Buck gets shot. Not necessarily in that order.

Summary
Buck has a near death experience on a call. It stirs up some difficult memories.
This was a double prompt fill. Whumptober: "Who Said You Could Rest?" & 9-1-1 Bingo: Sore Throat
___
The expressionless voice is unfamiliar and distant, the words nonsensical. It rattles away in his brain, like loose nails in a truck bed on an unpaved road. He reaches for them like they are a physical entity, tries to wrap his fingers and sluggish brain around them. Even as he fights and reaches, they’re eons away—but they seem to trigger some instinct in his body. Like a moth to a flame, he’s drawn to their magnetic pull, and the allure is temporarily strong enough to bring him out of his stupor. He comes back into himself slowly; the first thing that returns is pain. There’s a crushing, merciless weight on his chest; he flails helplessly—Buck isn’t sure which way is up.
Second is exhaustion—it’s the bone-deep sort of weariness that turns your limbs to lead and your brain to pulp. Each movement is like swimming through setting cement. Buck is half tempted to just let the tide take him to the abyss that surely resides somewhere below.

Summary
“Did you know if you put a frog in water and slowly bring it to boiling, it won’t hop out?” Chris is chattering as Buck makes a quick dinner while Eddie argues with his gas company on the phone. He can hear the occasional swear word in Spanish as his voice raises. Eddie doesn’t like to raise his voice around Christopher – the very thought makes Buck want to kiss him full on the mouth – so he decided to take it to the living room while Chris sits with his homework in the kitchen and Buck cooks.
“Hmm?” Buck asks, unable to fully pull himself out of Bobby’s baked mac and cheese recipe. It took him years, but he finally convinced the man to write it down. Bobby’s handwriting was juvenile at best on a good day, but this was nearly unreadable. Buck wonders if he did that on purpose. “Frogs?”
“Yeah!” Chris states. “My teacher said that if you put a frog in a pot, you have to make sure it’s not immediately boiling. You put them in water and then slowly raise the temperature and they won’t realize what’s happening. Then once they realize, they have no place to go. They can’t jump out.”

Summary
“You don’t have to be sorry for needing to break apart,” Eddie offers a self-deprecating smile, “Speaking from experience? Holding all of it inside doesn’t really go down well. Not for anyone.”
Part of Buck knows that. And that part of him is so happy to hear that from Eddie, to hear that his best friend has come so far and has healed enough to admit that. Another part of Buck fears that if he lets himself break apart any more, he won’t stop until there are shards of him everywhere. And he knows Eddie would still try to help. He’d still try to pick up every jagged part of Buck until his hands are cut open and bleeding.
It’s been a long time since Buck was afraid of Eddie leaving.
Now, he thinks he’s afraid of what will happen if he stays.
(Or, Buck died and then came back to life. Death doesn't seem to have gotten the memo.)

Summary
“Shit, shit, shit,” he cursed as he gripped the wrist of his injured hand, holding it above his heart. The cut wasn’t massive and, by design, not something you could stitch, but that didn’t make it any less messy or risky.
The blood thinners were not his friend right now.
A singular river of red trailed down his forearm to his elbow, then dripped onto the floor, leaving little splatters that his shoes soon smeared against the tile.
“Towel, towel, towel,” he said, spinning on his heel, gaze raking the room frantically. “Fuck—shit, there you are.”
Buck wanted fajitas, so he went to the store for the sweet onions he needed, but he got the wrong kind because he unexpectedly ran into the team, which had nothing to do with why he was crying in his kitchen--obviously, the shitty onions were to blame.
And his day just gets worse from there--as he ends up fileting off a strip of skin, bleeding everywhere, then accidentally hitting his talk-to-text and sending a ramble he never meant anyone to hear to the last person on earth to care: Eddie.
