AU where Robert has powers his dad forced him to suppress in his youth. Upon stepping into the role of Mecha Man Blue, Robert runs himself into the ground physically, mentally, and financially to uphold his family’s legacy. It’s what he was born and raised for, after all. He can’t afford to fuck it up. He’s nothing outside of it. His dad was so keen on drilling that into his head.
…with that kind of pressure on him, is it any wonder he starts to act out? It really shouldn’t be surprising that he needs to let off some steam, some charge, so he doesn’t lose his cool doing real hero work. Call him a hypocrite. Call him a supervillain in a hero’s suit. Robert’s long since past the point of caring.
It’s just a shame he’s working so closely with people who know the hallmarks of a real villain a lot better than he would like them to. He’ll have to keep his work and his fun separate, for the team’s sake if nothing else. They mean a lot to him. He genuinely wants to help them succeed in their redemption arcs.
But he has no intention of stopping. Not when he’s finally back in his prime.

Maxwell felt…strange.
Not bad, necessarily. As far as he could tell, he wasn’t in any pain. But he didn’t feel particularly good, either.
Mostly he just felt a whole lot of…nothing.
That in itself wasn’t strange. Maxwell would be remiss to call himself an emotional man. He was a passionate one, however, and typically this time after a fight would be spent mentally going over each second of battle, relishing in the spiderwebs of pain that still stretched over his cracked knuckles.
But now? Now he wasn’t even positive that the hands he was looking at belonged to him.
It was all just very…strange.
Or: Maxwell (doesn't) deal with his newfound bloodlust. Van helps.

And then, after punching two pilots out of the sky, jumped back as if nothing had happened, as if he wasn’t covered in blood, and as if his gloves weren't bitten off to reveal heavily scarred knuckles.
Van Chapman prided herself on not being easily shaken, and she wasn’t. It was just—surprising.
She didn’t really know this kid at all.

Maxwell cut his teeth early on, wrestling Johnwell out of the way for first access to the washroom or shoving the door open on Hatwell, who always obnoxiously took the longest getting ready even though he always ended up looking stupid anyway. It prepared him well for university dorms, where violence was less common but struggle for the communal showers was no less harried.
The challenge comes now, of course. Even a large ship like the Zephyr has only so many facilities, and he’d, maybe presumptuously, left his towel and soap in one of the private showers, the very one Olethra MacLeod had taken up nearly an hour ago.
