Summary
The PTSD which Hutch acquired from his traumatic three-month captivity ramps up in this roller-coaster of emotions and revelations. The surprise appearance of someone connected to Hutch’s past puts added stress on the recovering vampire shortly after he arrives home to Chicago with his family and a dark discovery puts a twist in Hutch and Starsky’s attempt to celebrate an important milestone. Throughout, Hutch struggles to master his fears and regain his sense of self all while building a relationship with this someone new in their life. Meanwhile, Starsky and Catherine must deal with their own trauma around Hutch’s abduction and the way he’s acting out his fears as well as decide what the best way is to help their wounded loved one. Ultimately, Hutch learns that he can only take one step at a time toward healing.

Pritt, never one to stick around in any one place for very long, worries that Starsky’s chosen him as his pet project in order to fill the empty shoes, and empty heart, left by Hutch. He struggles between accepting the safety and friendship (and maybe something more) life with Starsky offers and heeding the call of the open road with his trusty canine friend, Dog. Pritt, however, is no stranger to loss himself, and he subconsciously longs to stay. Will both men be unable to let go of what’s holding them back from being together, or will they learn to accept where the roads they’ve traveled have brought them up to now and be able to move forward in order to build a new life with each other?
