    District 12 doesn't have volunteers. Until Bram Kaczmarek comes along to save his adopted brother from the arena. And, more importantly, from his mentor, Kasimir Velikov. Because the other thing District 12 doesn't have is compassionate mentors in Kasimir and Muriel.

    Bram is confronted with the 89th Hunger Games and its surrounding politics, having only a slim chance to win. But Kasimir is damned if he would let the only boy with any fight in him go down without support. But in doing everything he can to keep his tribute alive, Kasimir can't help but feel more than the need to protect Bram.
