"בלי... קסם?"דראקו היביט באימו ואז שוב בספר בידיו ואז שוב באימו. הוא הרגיש כיאילו משהו נקרע בליבו. הוא לא ידע אם זאת היה תחושת כעס או אכזבה.
הוא הכיר את המסורות כמובן. הוא קרא עליהן, הוא שינן אותן, כל מה שהוא ידע על העולם זה שאנשים ללא קסם... מוגלגים מתועבים... היו נחותים מקוסמים. ועמדתם של הקוסמים על סקיבים לא היתה טובה יותר. סקיבים היו משהו נחות, משהו להתבייש בו ולמגר.דראקו רצה להתנגד למה שהיא אמרה, אבל ידע בליבו שזה נכון. בן למשפחת מאלפוי- ללא קסם, היה משהו לא יתואר. אבל כמעט ברגע שהמחשבה הזאת עלתה בראשו, היא גם נעלמה.

נעמה פחדה פחד מוות מתחילת שירותה הצבאי עם קבלת הצו הראשון. הפחד מלהיות לכודה במקום סגור ונוקשה, ללא כל יכולת לברוח מהבסיס בסימן הראשון לסכנה גרם לה לסיוטים חוזרים בלילות. סיוטים על קצינים, מפקדים בבתי כלא צבאיים מלווים במפלצות מצמררות שיער העירו אותה בשעות הקטנות של הלילה מכוסה בזיעה קרה.
אולי אלת המזל החליטה להאיר פניה ואולי זה היה ריחה החלש אשר לא משך מפלצות רבות מלכתחילה. ואולי זה היה שילוב של השלושה שגרם לכך ששירותה הצבאי עד כה עבר בשלווה מפתיע כמעט ללא כל מפלצות.

Piper recalled how the skin of its face had reattached itself back to its original shape. “Figured.” she said as she looked at her now red stained Katoptris. “My dagger is not daggering."
Thalia snorted.
“What are you doing here?” Piper asked and looked at Thalia. “Weren't you supposed to be closer to camp? I had talked with Leo a few days ago and he mentioned that you girls were there only mere days ago.”
“Because we were.” Thalia explained. “But business called and now we're here on a mission.”

“Find Medusa?” Percy spluttered, trying and failing not to sound indignant. “Nobody wants to find Medusa. You run into Medusa while trying to retrieve your uncle’s stolen lightning bolt and then mail her head to the gods after she keeps talking about how your eyes are like your father’s.”
From behind him, Piper raised a single finger. “When you mail what to whom?”
Percy glanced over his shoulder to give her a shrug. “Don’t worry about it. I was twelve,” he said before turning back to where Gabe was still fighting against the ropes binding his hands together. “Do you have any idea what to do with him?”
Nico leaned over, craning his neck to better peer at the hot sauce that still stained Gabe’s face despite the years of statue-ification. “Um, we could see if your dad wants to turn him into a fish or something?”
Percy grimaced. If Gabe Ugliano was a fish, then he’d be forced to hear the man’s voice in his head for years to come. But also, he could maybe mount him on a wall, so perhaps it wasn’t an entirely terrible idea.
Or
Medusa’s sculptures are mysteriously coming back to life. Percy doesn’t think murder is an unreasonable action given the circumstances.
