Like a puppy with her tail between her legs, Santos followed silently as Garcia guided them to a (mostly) vacant hallway, passing by Princess, who only smirked at her, and it was then that Santos knew how truly fucked she was.
Alone now, Garcia turned to Santos, her arms folded. “You better have a fucking bulletproof explanation.”
“I–” Trinity started. “I, um–” Oh god.
“What the fuck was that? Just because I needed a rain check?”
Santos could only stare dumbly.
“Jesus,” Garcia shook her head. “I thought you knew what this was.”

Kyoshi gathered herself, crossed the distance in two steps, and caught Rangi in a fierce hug. Pressed her cheek to the top of her hair, drew in the flowery scent, the soft strands against her skin, the solid warmth of Rangi's body.
“I thought you weren't back for a week,” she breathed. Felt oddly that she might cry. The past days had wound her tight as the skin of a drum. She could feel each of her muscles begin to relax in Rangi's arms, catching up to safety, to the feeling of being home.

Asami can't stop glancing at Korra. Can hardly believe she's finally back, solid and real and here at her side. Can hardly breathe at the way the sunset catches in her eyes, makes her skin glow, the short chop of her bob casting unfamiliar shadows. Asami aches to learn them, see her in every light, feel her close by in the darkness. Aches to never have to lose her again.

She watches Blake watch them, too. Sees something familiar in her eyes, something wide and new as dawn. She thinks she must've looked like that, the first time.
Blake is stunning with it, the same way she is with everything. Yang's heart carves out a new space for Blake like this, just a little wonderstruck, a thin tension in her shoulders relaxing. Like she feels the way they fit. Like the two of them are clicking into place here, together.
