“…’Nardo?” Donnie murmurs, blurry, and there’s a weak and trembling grip on Leo’s good arm. Leo’s throat closes to nearly a pinhole. Something’s choking him. A surge of feeling, half-relief half-Something-Else (that’s going in a little box in the back freaking corner of his brain, thanks, thanks!)
He puts on a grin.
“At your service, Donnie Dee,” Leo quips. “What’cha need? More water?” Impulsively, he checks Donnie’s temperature again, with the shaking hand that isn’t currently being held captive. The fever hasn’t changed. Of course it hasn’t. Duh, Leo, it’s been like thirty seconds.
Donnie’s eyebrows furrow. The left one is smudged. Leo runs a thumb across it and briefly wonders if there’s some Sharpie equivalent in the wilderness.
(Leo's portals go haywire, and Donnie pays the price. Leo's doing his best to fix it.)

It’s been common knowledge, ever since they were tots, that Donnie was the best swimmer.
The discovery had made a five year old Leo pout for a while, but it was true. There was no shell to get in the way of him diving underwater, darting like a swift arrow under the currents.
And, like it was common knowledge that Donnie was the strongest swimmer, it was made aware very early on that Mikey was the weakest.
His brothers took to water easily. They swam as they were born to do, effortless even at such a young age. Mikey, seeing his brothers having fun, had tried to do the same with a giggle and a splash.
It didn’t end well.~
After days of heavy rain, the lair floods with Donnie and Mikey still inside. Born a soft shell, Donnie can easily survive such conditions. Mikey, on the other hand, cannot.
TLDR: the lair floods with Mikey and Donnie still inside, and Donnie is the only one that can swim.

It's late at night, and all Raph wants to do is drift to slumber after a particularly hard day of school. Yet at the same time, there was this warm, fuzzy feeling that basically forced him to stay awake.
“…Case…?”
Casey looks up from his phone to Raph's sleepy body. “Yeah?”
“Can ‘u rub mah shell…?”
He asks before properly thinking it over, but the words are out. Once he notices what he just said, however, he hides his head back in his pillow from where he promptly peeked it out. The heat on his cheeks creeps back into him now, and he can hear Casey shuffle on the other side of the bed.
“Turn around.”, he hears Casey say, and Raph does it.

Or, it's late at night, and Raph just wants to be held. Casey obliges. Feelings ensue.
