When the music stopped, and Lars strolled to the very front of the stage, Carla could see the grip he had on the rest of the audience. He pushed his delicate hand into his deep trouser pocket, and pulled out a rose. The audience gasped, along with Carla, as he threw it to a fur sheathed lady sat three rows back from the stage. The lady swooned in response, and Carla felt the sour sting of unfamiliar jealousy, bubble in her stomach.
