"Geto-sama, who's Gojo Satoru anyway? He's super strong right?"
Nanako watches a calloused hand freeze mid-page flip, the other tightening white around his favorite book's cover. Then, as if nothing happened, he completes the action, exhaling softly out of his nose.
"Hm...He was my best friend. But we fought and it's been like this ever since."
It's a solemn answer, one Nanako would have gladly accepted from her father and savior...if only she hadn't heard the sound of his name falling from Geto's lips years prior. She and Mimiko exchange knowing looks.
"Just your best friend?"
Nanako hears her dad choke.

Geto Suguru insists he and his ex-best friend have grown apart since he left Jujutsu Tech. Nanako and Mimiko remember things a little differently.
(Where, years before JJK0, Satoru finds Suguru in hiding and wiggles his way back into his ex-best friend’s life, and the twins navigate getting to know "Geto Suguru" before he became "Geto-sama.")

Megumi catches his eyes, curved in such a way that he can tell he’s smiling without looking down at the arch of his mouth, and he thinks I know but still not know you too.

Summary
It’s pretty fucking cold. The grass beyond Itadori’s body is a dull green stained a murky red with congealed blood. It all looks awful, like a dreadful painting meant to evoke nothing but nausea. Nothing goes together — everything is thrown into the frame without a forethought.
Megumi suffers through the displeasure of having no other choice but to view and contextualise every stroke.
Itadori’s dead. That’s the context. Itadori is dead and Megumi finds that he doesn’t quite appreciate the silence left in the wake of his departure.
Or, Megumi and permanence.
