Yonoi should have known something was wrong as soon as he laid eyes on him. When his first glimpse of the British officer revealed in himself the potential for something that felt like madness, an instant of prostrating spiritual fever. That moment of disorder should have warned him. But it passed too quickly, to be replaced by admiration, curiosity, a sense of something entirely other. And so he failed to recognise that he was in the presence of a demon.

Eddie's smile is sweet, tinged with something bitter. Before Richie can frown, Eddie turns the other way and sighs.
"Richie to the rescue, huh." The way Eddie says it makes Richie wonder if he remembers how he brought him back to consciousness. If he does he's being oddly cavalier about it. Maybe it simply doesn't matter. Now that's a thought that makes his heart twinge. "Well, maybe it's my turn."
"Sure, Eds," Richie cautiously replies, not quite certain what they're talking about anymore. "Maybe it is."

“Richie. Richie, it’s me,” he whispers, so softly that it’s almost a figment of his imagination. “Hey, it’s Eddie. I’m Eddie. I’m okay, Rich, and you’re okay, so just… please, stop saying shit like that. You’re—you’re scaring me.” He says that part like he’d rather do anything but admit such a thing. But then, as his eyes dart over Richie’s face, his expression shifts, the usual constipation twisting into something close to hysteria that he tries and fails to mask with outrage. “And stop shaking me, shitbag! I had to claw my way out of a fucking disaster zone and I’m really sore—”
Richie doesn’t know how he knows it, that this is the one and only Eddie Kaspbrak, truly here in the flesh, but he does. Because it’s as if the piece of him that'd been unceremoniously ripped away has miraculously been sewn back into place, worn and faded and uneven and maybe the wrong way around, but still very much present.
“Eddie,” Richie chokes, and the man he loves with all his heart is standing right in front of him, alive, and there’s no way he could make himself think otherwise.
[Or: Stan lives, Eddie is resurrected, the Losers visit Georgia, and Richie gets everything he's ever wanted (plus more).]

There he meets the very people who will set up the rest of his life, and is forced to confront the pieces of himself he'd long thought had been lost.

Stan made a considering face.
“Okay, yeah… can’t blame you for not trusting this situation.”
The room shook and Stan had the gall to just look annoyed at it.
“Listen,” he continued, looking up at him. “You’re still in the deadlights, Rich.” He actually looked like he pitied Richie. “You're still in Neibolt.”
Pile of human teeth be damned - Richie dropped into the beanbag chair.
“Shit,” he breathed.
A story about surviving (just barely), getting worse (pretty spectacularly), and getting better (with help).
