Summary
Bucky wasn't a kind man, but he wouldn't go out of his way to be cruel. He was a lonely man, but he wouldn't go out of his way to fill the void. He was a man with specific needs, but he wouldn't go out of his way to get them fulfilled. No, he wasn't a man known to go out of his way to do much of anything nowadays, not when he'd spent most of his life thus far pushing himself past his limits for others. Now that he was free he'd live his life simple. And that's what his life was now. Simple.
Steve knew James Buchanan Barnes, formally and formerly known to the world as The Winter Soldier: the world's greatest assassin and many people's greatest threat. After killing his handlers he officially resigned and the people with enough firepower to kill him left him alone out of fear. But it was Steve's job to keep him in line and to check up on him from time to time. Make sure he wasn't up to something nefarious, his retirement wasn't a big hoax, and he was out of everyone's hair for good.
Really, Bucky let him do his job in peace, because he wasn't going to go out of his way to get rid of him. And if he left him be because he liked his pretty face, well, that was no one's business but his own.

Summary
Steve was a big omega, tall as a doorframe and just as wide. People usually liked them small, waft, and lithe if they got a little too tall. But Steve was big. And so he was unwanted.
Then came Bucky. From time, to space, to touch, they slowly merged until Steve realized that maybe someone did want him, at least a little bit. And if Steve adored him, it was nobody's business but his own.

It felt like a trick, but he nodded anyways.
“So many reporters-” Bruce’s eyes finally moved away from the guests and back onto Clark. “And yet-” he took a small sip of the champagne- “you’re the only one who didn’t mention my kids.”

Kryptonians are not human. It’s easy to forget, even for Clark. That being an alien means more than his powers. There are traits rooted into the DNA, coming out in the subconscious, until not even Clark notices. Kryptonians, among other things, build Bowers for their mates, beautiful homes to settle into. It’s more than a tradition, it’s a way of life.
