He peers between the branches at the spiderweb, gently pushing some away to get a better view. He wonders what kind of spider it is, if he can catch a glimpse of it. There aren’t that many types in England, but--
Oh. He doesn’t spot the spider, but there’s something else trapped in the middle of the web. A large moth, its wings splayed helpless and immobile. As he watches, he sees its legs wriggle ineffectually in the air. It’s a surprisingly pitiful sight, making Martin’s heart unexpectedly wrench a bit for the poor thing.

Summary
Unable to form words behind the gag in his mouth, Jon hummed in response. It was funny, he thought, how such a simple device could do so much. Could render him so helpless. Just a ring of rubber and some straps, nothing more. The thing was of a good quality, of course- it’d originally been part of Tim’s collection, after all. Smooth and sleek, with a buckle that Jon would be hard pressed to undo on his own, even with the use of his hands.
Not that that was a bad thing.
No, Jon liked the gag. It might have been a little uncomfortable, especially at first, but it helped. When he wore it, he didn’t have to worry. Not about accidentally compelling someone, or worse, purposefully compelling someone. Not even about putting his foot in his mouth and making a blunder of things. He couldn’t. He simply didn’t have the choice.

Summary
Jonny does not mean to end up at her door. He certainly never means to go back. Yet somehow he always does.
This is my own take on Dr. Carmilla experimenting on her children. Jonny does everything he can to protect the rest of her crew, which often results in painful consequences. This is mostly from Nastya's POV as she handles taking care of the aftermath of Carmilla's experiments. She feels useless and like she can't do anything to stop the torture Jonny endures for the sake of the rest of them.
Then she does do something about it.
There is no description of the actual medical procedures because I am 1. Not a doctor and 2. Scared of researching any of that.
Most of the gore is pretty mild.Updates were very loosey-goosey. Sorry :(
