The last few months have been horrible for the monkey-on-bloon warfare. For all that time, Benjamin had failed every single mission he had been sent on. Every time, one way or another. And eventually he came to a conclusion he really didn't want to end up at - that he should get out of the picture, and then everything would get better for the others.
Etienne has been on his third week of apprenticeship at the same place Benjamin's at - they were childhood friends, and it provided a good opportunity to test out drone operating. And although he was aware Ben was having a rough time, he didn't know he was going to do what he did.
He'd never see that candy the same way again.

Talking to Wallter and Mark about it didn't result in anything, and never talking to him again within the elevator system had no hope at working, so eventually, Lampert found himself in a dilemma. Did he want to get rid of Kasper? Any death on the elevator revived the person, but what about away from the elevator? He could've presented this ultimatum to Kasper, but it was certain he'd never consider personal space again.
So he was left with a choice. Cope with this abuse, or use a drastic method to end it for good?

Summary
Being a Hero is basically like being part of a large, heavily unrelated family. There's agreements, a few inside jokes, and the occasional fight.
And also the fact that there's a bunch of secrets lying around? Benjamin's heard a few.
What Benjamin has NOT heard, though, was that Etienne's literally trial-and-error attempting to create a mech. But then again, first time anybody's been fully informed about it was 3:30 AM on a Thursday night.
