When long-time immortal and full-time hater of humanity, the great Emrys himself, finds the newly crowned King Arthur at his doorstep asking for his help, he gets way more than he bargained for on their journey to revive Camelot’s old wards and save the kingdom from war. Arthur doesn’t understand most of what she just said but nods anyway.
Squinting her eyes, she gauges his confusion regardlessly. “It’s someone pretending to be the famous sorcerer. See here, this is his most recent tweet.” At Arthur’s odd look, she clarifies, “It’s like a message that everyone can see.”
@asorcerersays: Guys why did he have to be so hot and like,,,funny? Like it’s been forever and I still miss him. He was pretty dumb though.
Arthur knows his face must look disgusted. “For everyone to see?”
Or, Immortal!Merlin goes on Twitter to complain about his dead king. Unrelatedly, Arthur joins Twitter.

“You, servant!” the man barks in a brisk tone. He’s pointing at Merlin, facing him from the side and bouncing on his toes as though he has somewhere better to be. “Go fetch my father! I have urgent news for him.”
Merlin looks at him dumbly from where he’s wringing out a soggy pair of breeches.
“What are you doing?” the man asks, outraged.
“Uh,” Merlin looks to the breeches, to the clothesline, then back to the man. He shrugs. “Laundry, I guess.”
“No, you daft idiot, why don’t you do as I command? I am your prince. Now, go fetch my father!” the man commands, then promptly disappears into thin air.

“Merlin…” Arthur said as he slowly started to reach for his sword. “Don’t…Move…”
“No, no, no! Arthur, it’s alright!” Merlin said as he moved (because obviously he ignored Arthur’s orders and moved) in front of the desk. “She’s just saying hello!”
“That’s a dragon.” Arthur informed him. Merlin looked over his shoulder for a moment.
“No, it isn’t.”
There was a pause.
“Yes, it is.”
“No.” Merlin shook his head. “It…Uh, is not…A dragon.”
“Then what the Hell is it?!” Arthur asked, not letting his eyes drift away from the fire breathing demon. Yeah. That was definitely a dragon. Merlin clicked his tongue before also staring behind him.
“It is…A…Bird…”
There was another pause.
“You’re really sticking with that?”
“I am, thank you.”
Or
Merlin has to convince the King of Camelot that he is not, in fact, in possession of a dragon. Luckily, the rest of the kingdom has already been won over by the baby dragon and is quite willing to aid in this quest.

“My claim to Camelot’s throne,” Uther threw back, face growing more red as Arthur looked between his parents in utter bewilderment. Merlin didn’t blame him. He had envisioned Uther and Ygraine’s love story to be more… well, less based in war and battles.
Ygraine’s eyes narrowed as she grabbed a goblet of wine and threw it in Uther’s face. A few of the guards shifted, but Uther only raised a hand to pause them, spitting out the wine with furious eyes.
“You,” Ygraine said coldly. “Are unworthy to sit upon a stool, let alone a throne.”
From a few feet away, Balinor scoffed as he sipped from his own goblet. “I kind of like having her as a hostage, Uther. She livens up the place.”

In a desperate attempt to save Arthur at Camlann, Merlin tries to reverse time. It works perhaps a tad too well.

Lying on the ground behind Gwaine is a man with ripped clothes — dark hair, bony cheeks, chest heaving up and down. He doesn't look frightened exactly, more shaken, in an oddly feral sort of way. He massages thin wrists with fingers that match, shackles peeking out from under the torn sleeves, and stands up on his feet slowly, very carefully.
When he realises that someone's looking at him, he looks back.
Arthur feels something heavy settle in his throat — the man has such blue, blue eyes.
