“I’m sure the ladies go crazy for those arms of yours,” Taissa said, voice sugar-sweet, her brown eyes glimmering with appraisal as they tracked over her form. They lingered on her biceps, making Van feel a little hot under the collar. So, Tai most definitely liked girls.
“Buy me dinner first,” Van replied, leaning forward on her arms as she met Taissa with what she hoped was a flirty smile, letting the new surge of confidence wash over her. Meanwhile, her heart was running circles in her chest.
Tai didn’t pull away. “Not a dinner,” she said, fingers tapping on the marble, “but my friends are having a party next Friday to celebrate the end of midterms. You should come.”

Summary
After escaping Wu’s team, the campers find the boat right where they left it.
It’s just on fire.
Pitch-black smoke curls up into the sky, smelling of metal and gasoline. Orange flames flicker through the shattered windows of the main cabin and the bow is dipping into the water. For a few long seconds, all they can do is stare. The realization sinks into them one by one as their wide eyes trace the telltale holes in the side of the boat.
Wu’s mercenaries had guns.

The campers’ boat is sabotaged by Wu’s mercenaries, leaving them stranded on Isla Nublar indefinitely. Through good times and bad, only one thing is for certain; none of them will ever be the same.
