“You’re the new blacksmith, right?” The baker says, stepping back behind the counter. Nandor dumbly follows him, watches rapt as he leans on an elbow, face turning in his palm. Coy.
“Yes. You stopped by last week, I remember.” Nandor fumbles with his hands, looking around the little cafe. There’s barely anyone here. They can talk.
“What did you think?”

A new blacksmith comes to the pier, and Guillermo doesn't know what to do with himself. They take up a whirlwind situationship that gets complicated when he finds out the man is a vampire. Maybe it would be easier if Guillermo didn't want to be one so bad. Maybe it would be easier if Nandor didn't hate himself.

Summary
Guillermo just stares at Nandor, wonders if he has the guts to do this, to face reality, and the really, massively huge problem is that none of this is going away ever again. He's a vampire now, officially, and Nandor will notice someday. Keeping it a secret any longer than now will just make it more of a crime. "Ask me what you want to ask me," Guillermo says, steady and unhappy. "Go on. Say it out loud."
Nandor's gaze goes wide open, weirdly innocent the way it sometimes does, then he tries to stare Guillermo down. "Your teeth," he says, and gestures helpfully at his mouth. "They look like fangs."
It's almost like they've cleared the air. Guillermo tilts his chin up, looks at Nandor straight in the eye, and smiles a little. "I noticed," he says. "What do you think?"
Laszlo helps Guillermo figure out his vampiric transformation issue. Guillermo notices it's worked right about when Nandor does. The inevitable clash breaks down all the walls between them whether Nandor likes it or not. Guillermo doesn't have a single reason left to hold back or lie to either of them for a second longer than he already has.

Nandor drew a check mark in his notepad. “Next question: How do you feel about management, and do you have any feedback or suggestions for how we can improve?”
He glanced up at Guillermo with a wary expression. But Guillermo had no intention of starting a fight, so he gave Nandor a bright, mischievous smile.
“I think I made it very clear how I feel about management last night,” he said with a wink. “Several times, in fact.”

After Guillermo becomes a full-fledged vampire, Nandor insists on conducting an exit interview to mark the official end of Guillermo's familiarship.
