Summary
Zoey had thought it would be her.
Well, she hadn’t exactly thought that any of them would be having a full blown panic attack two hours before their debut. But she’d thought that if it was going to happen to any of them, it would be her.
Certainly she had never expected it to be Rumi.

Summary
Lucy should have seen the signs right away. After all, she witnessed her own sisters sick with the flu an absurd number of times. However, it was the coldest week of the year in London, and she was trapped in her flat with only the Skull and her own misery for company, so she decided a bit of resentment was warranted.
“You’re looking pretty pathetic, even for you, Lucy.”
She made a noise of acknowledgement in the Skull’s direction.
“I don’t even remember what it’s like to have a body, and I can tell this is bad.”
She grunted again. He kept yammering on.
“Lucy, I’m completely unqualified to be your nursemaid. Death is really my specialty, as you know.”
-----
In the middle of the Black Winter, Lucy comes down with the flu, and an unexpected person shows up at her door to help.

OR
Buck's crashout after Bobby's death, because the show did a pisspoor job with all of it

Summary
“I was going to drive us back to my house,” he says, sparing a quick look at the traffic light. Still red. “Is that okay? We can go home– to yours if you want to?”
“No,” Chris answers quickly. “No, I…I don’t want to go home without Dad.”
The confession is quiet, whispered under his breath, but Buck hears the plain rawness as loudly as if Chris shouted. Throat constricting, he curls and uncurls his fingers around the steering wheel, grounding himself in the repetitive motion.
Images flicker unabated behind his eyelids. Eddie’s shirt sticky with blood. The cream carpet underneath him staining crimson. Eddie only thinking of Chris’s safety, his eyes fluttering closed when Buck reassures him of it. The hospital bed he’s lying on right now –where Buck left him.

Summary
The drive back to the station was short, but much rougher than the ride out. Buck felt like his brain had been shaken loose and was rattling around in his skull. He leaned against the window to try to stop the pounding in his head. He didn’t deserve to feel this upset over Chris. He wasn’t Chris’ father. And anyway, Christopher was fine! Everyone was fine. Nothing had really happened, in the end, except a dead phone battery and a little good old-fashioned teenage rebellion.
The constant jostling was messing with his stomach, too. He could feel every bump and swerve in his gut, roiling and churning with mounting intensity. Cold sweat pricked at his skin.
Eddie definitely didn’t want Buck to come over, or he would have said so. Buck had gotten used to thinking of Eddie and Chris as his family, but they hadn’t been like that in months, had they? No, longer. Not since Chris left for Texas, really. It had been too long, it was too late. Bile rose in his throat and he choked it back down.
OR: Buck definitely does not have the flu, he’s just sad about Eddie and Chris
