Summary
A year or so into the Clone Wars, a young woman from the independent planet of Ryitu becomes ensnared in a conspiracy that may blow the whole conflict wide open. After witnessing an arms deal gone awry between a Hutt agent and a bounty hunter, she has no choice but to flee to the Republic.
Niah Rum'mai, galaxy-wide famous singer with a brash on-stage persona, is thrown into situations she'd never expected when her role in a dangerous web of lies results in a series of attempts on her life.
Captain Rex of the 501st Legion along with his Torrent Company brothers are forced by the Republic into acting as her short-term protection detail. Frustrated at being pulled away from the front lines, Rex makes no attempt to understand this vapid, privileged civilian.
It was supposed to be a short job. Why is it taking so long? Why is Niah the Republic's concern? And why does it seem like someone out there is waiting for them to fail?
