Jamie asks the question as he sits down, handing Roy a third beer, another held loosely in his other hand.
What is Roy thinking?
He thinks Jamie looks fucking picturesque, sitting there at the table on their patio, overlooking the ocean, backlit by fading sun’s light. The breeze rustles Jamie’s Walnut fucking Mist hair, his more-than-half-opened shirt. He looks relaxed and happy, sipping from his beer. The sight of it makes Roy so fucking hungry for something he doesn’t even have the words to name.
Roy looks away, gazes out at the push-and-pull of the waves instead.
After taking a long swallow from his drink, he finally answers Jamie.
“Football,” he lifts a brow, as if to say, ‘what else?’

Or, Roy and Jamie go to Brazil and Roy learns to let himself want.

Summary
The best outcome was winning the match and winning promotion and having Roy pull him into his arms—albeit with a forehead to the face first—and holding him in a tight hug while they celebrated. Unbelievable. Absolutely amazing. Perfect in every way, four stars, would get nutted again for that hug. What Jamie was not prepared for was the weirdest possible outcome, which was Roy sending him a text two weeks after the end of the season that simply contained an address. Presumably his address, but maybe it was the location where Roy planned to make Jamie dig his own grave before murdering him. There was no further explanation given, and Jamie’s common sense told him to ignore it, but his instincts told him it was best to go to where Roy was, and if that was a mysterious location with a pair of shovels, then so be it.

“What?” Roy asks. He looks confused in a way Jamie’s never seen him before.
“I’m intruding,” Jamie says gently, the same tone that he used to use to explain to his cousins why his dad was passed out snoring in the corner before Christmas dinner had even been served.
“No you’re fucking not,” Roy says instantly, circling his fingers around Jamie’s wrist so hard it hurts. “How can you be fucking intruding? I fucking invited you.”
Jamie’s head swims with all the f-bombs in that sentence. You’d think he’d be used to it by now.

Something is happening with Jamie. Roy has noticed. It's obvious, he's dating someone new. He's changed his hair, started painting his nails, and he keeps using words with more than three syllables. Not always correctly, mind you, but he's clearly making an effort for someone.
Roy is determined to find out what's going on - in a professional capacity, of course. It's his job to check in on his players, even if that means sticking his nose into Tartt's love life.
