Summary
There are many ways to support your favorite player. Attending their games, for instance. Buying their jersey. Or, if you're trying to keep a secret relationship under wraps, you could drive four hours in the opposite direction, wrap yourself in a dollar store blanket with eyeholes cut in it, and attempt to blend in with the locals.
It's foolproof. Nothing could possibly go wrong.
The internet would never figure it out.

Summary
The Swiss National League doesn’t care about the legendary Hollander-Rozanov rivalry. When the MLH can’t negotiate with the Hockey Players’ Union in time to prevent a hockey lockout at the start of the 2015 season, the Zürich Lions jump at the chance to sign both Shane and Ilya to short-term contracts. For four months in Switzerland, they share a team, a line, a house, and a bed.
Then the lockout ends in January, and it’s time to go back. Back to different countries, cities, lives. Beds.
Reentry is harder than expected.

Summary
"It was only later, Elrond's hands on the hidden casket and Faramir watching the way he didn’t let himself hesitate, that rhetoric drained out. That the thing stopped being a half-cocked mission and became simply what it was: two half-men in a stone room, in the middle of the night, trying to carry the remains of brightness out into a diminished world. For a moment neither of them moved. Then Elrond reached in and lifted the skull with an indecent tenderness that made Faramir need to look away. "
__________
After the coronation of Aragorn, Elrond asks Faramir for his help in retrieving a relic stored in the vaults of Minas Tirith: the bones of Elros Tar-Minyatur, the first king of Númenor, Elrond's beloved brother and technically speaking, Faramir's distant ancestor. In return, he receives a new, clearly unhelpful yet strangely compelling way to approach the hole Boromir left in his heart.Bookmarked by frostfound

Summary
The return of one man from the dead should, in all but exceptional circumstances, be an occasion for celebration among his friends and family. The return of three men, all intimately connected with one another, and having a host of friends, patrons and family members in common, justifies a party of special magnificence.

The first time Maia Drazhar shows any aptitude at maz, he is five years old. His mother, the only witness to this rare and sudden feat, whispers something in Barizhin under her breath and due to her inattention, drops her teacup off its saucer.
She never tells anyone of his ability; she has no reason to believe it would change anything.
(It changes everything.)

The boy is too small. Even taking into account his elvish blood, an eight year old should stand taller and have more meat on his bones than Maia does. Likely he's not been fed as well as he ought to have been; likely he's been too grieved to eat, lately.
Thever certainly knows the feeling.

Summary
“Shaleän is an… awkward question for the Corat' Dav Arhos,” said Csevet slowly. “And we gather she is not much discussed in noble society… in public noble society, that is. But she is something of a folk figure to those who live on the coast, and they call her the arh’avar, the water-duke. She scandalises, to be sure— she has a wife stowed away in Solunee-over-the-Water, so it’s said— but many of the avarsin pay her huge sums to see their shipments safely across the Chadavean Sea, to smuggle valuables, or sometimes even to conduct raids on rivals’ ships. It has long been suspected that her father pays her great sums to feed him information and safeguard his ships. The Great Avar, we suspect, would not be as rich as he is without Shaleän Sevraseched. So her acknowledgement was generally considered to be long overdue, and we do agree with the Zhasan— we think he means efficiency, and personal investment, in his sending of her.”
(The Great Avar's definition of a 'trade negotiator' is possibly a little loose... so it's just as well that Shaleän is only sort of meant to be doing that.)

"No doubt thou didst melt the seal open on the steam vents to read the business of thy betters, planned how thou wouldst ingratiate thyself with the Archduke— oh yes, we know thy tricks…”
Not the steam vents, thinks Csevet. It would wet the paper. The hot pipes, yes— but not the vents. He would only use a steam vent if he wanted to bleed the ink onto the external sheet and claim inclement weather, and that almost never can be gotten away with inside the court.
Captain Orthema is saying Lord Chavar, leave Mer Aisava, but Csevet knows Chavar will not move for love or money now, not until he has said his piece.

“Aha!” Csethiro sat up, displacing him somewhat abruptly. “Thou dost admit it, then!”
“Admit what?” said Maia bewilderedly, trying to sit up—
“That ‘tis my job to hate people on thy behalf,” said Csethiro magnificently, with a rather intense look in her eye that Maia did not entirely trust, even if he did rather like it.
“I did not… quite say that…”
“Let me deal with Mer Abrevar, husband,” said Csethiro— in a tone she obviously thought was measured, because she looked proud of herself. It was not measured. It was immense.Bookmarked by frostfound

She had let go of everything else; hope of a retrieval, hope of an apology, hope of seeing her sisters or her son again. It would be enough to know. She did not have to do anything with the knowledge. Ulis would understand. Surely he would.
"To the best of your knowledge, Othala— is the Archduke Maia alive and safe?”
Thara Celehar stared at her for a very long moment, his grip on her trembling fingers very firm. Then he said;
“Sister— he is.”

“Dear Maia,” said Csethiro, amused. “Lack of presumption, thy name is Edrehasivar. Well, we are sorry for the faux pas. Have no fear, we are used to keeping quiet on the matter.” She frowned. “Gosh. For a woman who was so worried you disliked us, we are certainly giving you plenty of reasons, in our attempts to diffuse the situation. Damnation.” She sat back, then said, “Ooh, Goëlar,” and sat forwards again. “You have the set! And well-read, we dare say, how impressive…”
The woman's mind was like a scanning bird of prey, Csevet thought exhaustedly as she tottered out of the chair to look at his bookshelf. Pinned one topic and only let it go when it was in its death throes, then leapt instantly off to murder another.(csevet and csethiro have three main things in common: pakh'palar, popular literature, and purpose. not necessarily in that order.)

“So,” he said, “You are to be our grandson’s wife.”
“An it pleases His Serenity and our father,” said Csethiro Ceredin. Her voice was deeper than he had expected, and she seemed to have to work to keep it from carrying.
“And how does it please Csethiro Ceredin, pray?” said Maru.
“As well as it pleases any lady chosen to be Zhasan, we have no doubt,” said Csethiro coolly.
Saying that to Chenelo Sevraseched’s father was either stupid or deliberately brassy, and Maru had already ruled out the likelihood of her being stupid.Bookmarked by frostfound
