If Zenitsu had to describe himself, one word would be enough.
Unremarkable.
Sadly, when Inosuke signs him up as the friend in a "pitch a friend" matchmaking event, Zenitsu needs to come up with five good things to say about himself, or risk Inosuke pitching him as "a crybaby that can eat an entire cake in ten minutes. A big one, meant for six people."
As he tries to collect his best qualities, his mind wanders. It comes as little surprise to him that every memory he touches contains Tanjirou.

Summary
“Pleasure to meet you too, Zenitsu !” He says, offering the boy a bright smile. “I'm excited to start training with you.”
Zenitsu lets out a chuckle. It’s not a happy one. He approaches Tanjirō, talks almost conspiratorially. “Don't get your hopes up, Tanjirō. I'm the worst slayer in the world, and we're not even legit slayers yet.”
Tanjirō is struck by two things : one, that Zenitsu is so confident in his own failure. And two, that the lovely scent of ripe peaches he smelled earlier was most certainly coming from Zenitsu, because it is now invading his nostrils, filling his head with a sugary tang that's overwhelming in its sweetness. Underneath it all, however, Tanjirō smells other things : something bitter like self-loathing and something icy like fear.
He doesn't find the earlier outburst quite so funny anymore.

Because standing there at the host’s podium was the actual last man on earth that Ed had expected to run into tonight.

Diverges from canon somewhere during Impossible Birds. The Revenge makes port, and Ed goes looking for a drink at Jackie'z. He's a bit surprised to find out who's currently serving on her waitstaff.
