"That suits you." Marla says and my head whips to her. She's smiling, looking me up and down with a grin. She's holding a .95 cent dress that will last her a few months and I'm wearing leather dyed the colour of blood that will last me the rest of my life. The feeling of it surrounding me almost reminds me of the feeling that Tyler gave me. That all encompassing warmth.
Marla makes a face at the price tag, but since I pay, she doesn't say anything else. I keep wearing it out of the shop, holding her bags of scraps. It feels like I'm finally in the skin that belongs to me. Like my whole life I was just muscle and blood leaking out onto the floor, and it is only now with the jacket surrounding me that I feel complete.
