(Amadeo feels small and stupid and very scared, suddenly, trembling like a leaf the whole way to their bed, and he unbuckles the belt papa had buckled just a few hours before, and once he’s got his torso over the bed and his feet still grazing the floor he pulls his pants down over the curve of his ass until he’s bare right where he’s the most embarrassed about, and only then does papa approach. He breathes even and slow. There is no sound of rings being removed.
“I’m sorry,” Amadeo says. It sounds wet coming out but he does not sob. He doesn’t even feel scared anymore, just sad and tired. ”I didn’t mean it.”
“I know you didn’t,” papa says lightly. “We were having such a nice night, angel.”)
