Summary
Ever since Percy rescued her from captivity on Mount Tamalpais, Annabeth can’t help but notice that her friend has gained some new abilities. All of a sudden, he can influence someone’s heart rate, their breathing, even their capabilities of speech.
After extensive research, Annabeth concludes that Percy must have acquired some kind of godlike abilities during the struggle against Atlas. There's no other possible explanation. She reaches out to her fellow campers, only to discover something very strange: Percy’s new powers only seem to affect Annabeth.

Getting older is a pain, and being a demigod doesn’t make it any easier. When Annabeth points out a potential advantage of aging, Percy sees an opportunity to mess with the gods.
A cozy day in the Jackson-Chase household, several years down the line.

Summary
Annabeth doesn’t see the appeal of movies. She can think of a thousand ways she’d rather spend her time, like reading or training or getting assigned cleanup duty in the mess hall. But for some reason, she just can’t turn Percy and Grover down when they invite her to join them for a movie night just before the summer ends.
The Wizard of Oz may be cheesy and excessively eccentric, but it has its charms. Annabeth can’t help feeling somewhat fascinated by the movie’s parallels to herself, her friends, and their own recent, fantastical journey. As Dorothy and her friends progress through their story, Annabeth comes to see that even a daughter of Athena has something to learn from a film about friendship, self-acceptance, and the comfort of home.
