No real choice in that anymore, though. Just like always.

Summary
Vampire hunter Bucky Barnes has worked ‘willingly’ for the Hostile Yield Deterrence and Response Academy (H.Y.D.R.A for short) for what feels like seventy years. He’s never turned down a job, and is known in the community as the ‘Winter Soldier’ for his brutal efficiency at wiping out Vampire broods in the colder months when all other agents have given up. He doesn’t have a family, or friends - has time for neither, wouldn’t want to put them at risk regardless.
Sam Wilson was a young man when an accident in the military led to his turning. He came to terms with it rapidly, and was one of the lucky few able to tame his bloodlust before it could get the better of him. Now, with his young charge Joaquin, a freshly turned young vampire who turned to him for guidance, he works closely with the Sanctioned Hunters: Intelligence, Elimination, Logistics Division to prevent the growth of Feral broods from damaging vampire-human relations permanently.
Bucky thinks Sam is a stuck up, arrogant ass who needs to be eliminated before he becomes feral. Sam thinks Bucky is the world's most unbelievable douche.
Inevitably, they fall in love.

Summary
In cryo, between missions, the Asset tries to make sense of his mission history.
HYDRA rented him out to anyone who'd pay—oligarchs, shell companies, whoever needed wetwork done. Political assassinations sit alongside yacht explosions, food truck disputes, pet retrievals. There's no ideology. No pattern. Just profit margins and whoever's check cleared.
Bucky knows this already. Bucky just wants Asset to stop searching for meaning that was never there and rest in what's left of Brooklyn before the next wipe. But Asset can't remember failing before, and Bucky can't forget.
