Summary
[His now ex-girlfriend] leaves and Soap feels nothing as the door closes behind her. He sighs and finishes packing his duffel. His family will be upset, sure, but it’s no great loss. She can find someone better than him, a man who will love her the way Soap has witnessed on TV and heard people talk about but never experienced for himself. Perhaps he’s just not wired for it, some part of his brain fundamentally broken in a way that makes him good for the military but not much else.
No point in dwelling on it. His relationship may be over, but he doesn’t need a girlfriend right now—not when he’s gunning for a promotion.
And certainly not when he has Ghost.
Soap and Ghost have an arrangement where they help each other get off. It's not cheating and it's certainly not gay, until it is.

"Interesting," Simon said, though he seemed pleased. "You're finally learning some patience. There's still hope for you."
"Haud yer wheesht," Johnny grumbled half-heartedly, dropping his face back into the pillows.
He didn't stay there for long, the cold bite of steel against his throat startling a small yelp out of him.
"You should be nicer to the man about to ruin you," Simon growled, wrapping the chain around Johnny's neck and pulling it taut, snapping the padlock through the metal loops crossing at his nape. He held the excess length in his palm and yanked sharply, just once, effectively cutting off Johnny's air supply and making his eyes roll back, tugging his head away from the pillows.
"I've always liked dogs," he whispered into Johnny's ear, the hand not clutching the chain finding its way to the Scot's disheveled mohawk, fingers raking through the strands. "And you're the prettiest bitch I've ever had on the end of my leash."
